yes, even if they then withdraw a 0 is counted

As your wording gets a WC may lead to confusion as well, please mind the timeframe from selecting players for [WC]s by the tournament until final approval by WTA: - Tournament chooses players to award her a [WC]
- Player accepts [WC]
- WTA approves [WC]
As long as [WC]s are not approved by WTA, they are not considered official and consequently players are not accepted into MD.
On a separate note: If a MD-alternate player doesn't like to compete at PMs (eg due to cost of traveling) she should not forget to withdraw; otherwise: if she become a direct acceptance and subsequently withdraws - and therefore fails to play this Tournament - she would automatically receive mandatory zero points for the Tournament; this mandatory zero will count on her ranking as one of her best 16 Tournament results.

Yeh I know they do not play here but I was being hopeful and optimistic that venus may have changed her mind... ohh well.
