Re: Do You Like Christmas?
I have younger cousins who still get excited opening presents..so that makes it enjoyable.

Re: Do You Like Christmas?
It depends.
If you have a good family, a good company, a good life overall, then that's it.
(I don't mean rich, I mean good)
If not, that's a pain in my opinion.

Re: Do You Like Christmas?
I loooooove Christmas, the music, the lights, family time, gifts, people mostly are happy and giving. It really is the best time of the year (well except the summer, I'm a teacher so I get 2 1/2 months off WITH pay so thats really the best time of the year for me lol) but Christmas is my favorite HOLIDAY of the year.

two things annoy me about xmas, not having a bf when it is xmas and parents living 30 mins from each other. close enough to see both far enough away to mean spending only a couple of hours with each, thus deciding who to have dinner with is awkward. the evenings are best when i get to either be alone or with friends.

This! I really like Christmas but my family always seems to stomp all over it with with really petty arguments. Ever since my parents split up these type of holidays are always so awkward and stressful. One parent is always left alone and depressed and somehow I always end up feeling responsible.

Re: Do You Like Christmas?
I don't understand the ballyhoo, panic buying when shops are only closed for 1 day - in fact some in London are open on Christmas day!, all the hype, then a day or so later everyone just carries on as before. It takes a lot of effort not to get sucked into it and you have to in order to keep some relatives happy!
It actually makes me think people are stupid. Far better to enjoy the whole year!

That's family for you. Most are actually like that, not the fantasy marketed on TV!

Re: Do You Like Christmas?
I'd like to update my earlier response to say that I totally hate it. As others have mentioned, there are petty arguments on both sides of my family, a bunch of women in the family who get so wound up that they create problems that shouldn't exist, and now both of my kids are sick. I cannot wait for next week, and my wife even has to have surgery then. At least she'll be relieved of one chronic problem. That's even an upgrade over this crap. I wish it didn't exist, because people ruin it every year. I hope to go out of town next year with the wife and kids and ignore the whole thing

Dave.
I hope I will like Christmas again next year. This year I'm not really in a Christmas spirit.

Re: Do You Like Christmas?
I absolutely adore Christmas.
I love the the family time, the evenings spent cuddling with my partner in a duvet watching disney and pixar cartoons, the gifts, the discounts on high street, shopping, the meals, the cookies and puddings, the lights, the street decorations, the cheesy music, some more presents and the booze.
PS: forgot to add watching Love Actually over and over again on every channel.

Re: Do You Like Christmas?
I probably already posted in this thread, but as an update, it's getting more and more grating with every passing year. And those cheesy xmas songs are really starting to get tired.
