Wow, Vera destroyed Mervana!
She got one of the best sections for the qualifiers:
(1)Azarenka v Bye
Pironkova v Oprandi
McHale v (Q)Dushevina
Daniilidou v (17)Safarova
Xtina is in a terrible slump (1-10 since the Canadian Open), plus she'll be under pressure to defend her QF points here, so Vera should take her opportunities!

Dushevina into the qualies of Dubai. Here's her section:
(3)Vesnina v Mattek-Sands
(wc)Bychkova v Rodionova
Morita v Dushevina
(wc)Woerle v (7)Zheng
Tricky first round. Vera has a 1:0 lead against Ayumi, but Ayumi beat two of her compatriots in Fed Cup last weekend, and must be coming in with loads of confidence!
Plus, Vera has SF points to defend, so she's can't be careless!
