Forgot to mention another trend;

'THE FALL OF ACC' (Italicized)

Only 2 ACC teams in top 10, DUKE & UVA.

Re: 2011-2012 Rankings

Pretty hard to understand how Notre Dame's top doubles team is ranked No. 1 in the country in the latest ITA rankings! They lose Friday to Wyoming and earlier in the week to Texas Tech at No. 1 doubles. Obviously these computer rankings still have a ways to go to adjust!

probably WAATC champ Burdette/Gibbs is the de facto #1, now on their 12 match winning streak.
And they lost to;

1/13/2012 Freeman Memorial Round of 16 #2 Mallory Burdette
Nicole Gibbs #49 Zoe Scandalis
Valeria Pulido #4 University of Southern California Loss 8-3

11/5/2011 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiates Championships Semifinals #2 Mallory Burdette
Nicole Gibbs #1 Kristy Frilling
Shannon Mathews #19 University of Notre Dame Loss 7-5, 7-6 (7-4)

Re: 2011-2012 Rankings

haven't had time to scrutinize the rankings

DOUBLES;

Also the fall of ACC; only 1 team among the top 10, GT combo at 9th.
4 PAC 12 team in top 10, as usual, PAC 12 dominance, followed by SEC'S 3

Individually, two top teams fell;
Bek/Wong fell to 17th, and WAATC Cons. finalist Hardenbergh/Vierra to 51th.

Top 16 teams seems to be safe for the NCAA championship, Xi/Fraser has 6 pts more than the Clemson team.

Yale has record 4 teams in top 80, while UCLA and UF has all 6 players ranked. (3 separate teams)

I do want the Oklahoma combo to showcase their skills at Athens, but they're currently ranked 44th..
Guillermo/Issara are also ranked but too low, at 57th.

I'm not saying they are bad. I just don't see what really warrants the jump from 12 to 6. Just beating Texas?

Re: 2011-2012 Rankings

well, even after beating UT they defeated more ranked teams such as BU

But yeah, maybe their ranking is a bit high, but we'll see how they fare at the conference matches

Re: 2011-2012 Rankings

#31 Arizona def. #36 Washington 4-3

Arizona entered the score twice on the ITA website so the computer will credit Arizona with 2 wins over #36 Washington.

I wonder if Arizona breaks into the top 16, in position to host a regional, when the next rankings come out.

If anything a team should be penalized for entering a stupid mistake but instead they might be given a big rankings boost!

Same with Auburn entering their win over Kentucky twice.

Re: 2011-2012 Rankings

#94 Khunpak Issara upsets #50 Marianne Jodoin 6-2,6-2.

- Pulling a fast one Fresno St. enters Issara's win as being over Laura Pola who plays #7 off the bench.

- Issara will be scratching her head wondering why her ranking didn't go up. Let's see how long it takes the Pepperdine coach to catch the mistake.

You should email him i did the same with ASUs win over Texas Tech in #1 doubles it said J Smith/J Cako won against currently ranked 30 team from TT when it was N Smith. They changed it in less than a minute. Hopefully ASU doubles team gets ranked in the next poll
