I'm glad one with the name and fame of Serena won the tournament. Only adds more shine to Lena's victory really, that plus the fact she defeated Serena on her Olympic run 4 years ago.

Ross, didn't you say Team GB would take a dive in the medal standings now that athletics have started?

Seems I have fucked up, should be a gold medal for that too, we all know where I would be in that event..... unbeatable.

Got the gold in the hairy assed mens tennis too.

I am glad Serena one the Medal, as ^^^ says upstairs, its good kudos but it also means Lena is STILL the only Russian woman to have a gold medal in singles tennis.

I glad too... after all Serena is a great player. On the tour right now she was the only player who deserved that honor

As you said Ross is good to know Elena is STILL the only russian woman who have a gold madal in singles

Yeah i'd say it was definitely deserved

and she only adds more glory to Lena's gold medal.

Elena would have done great in previous era's, it was so tough with Serena, Justine, Venus and Kim around. She still has a lot to be proud of. I think you should also be measured by the era you played. Just like Pete, he played during a time where it was stacked with Hall of Famers, to me that was the most difficult era to be #1 as was Elenas time.

Who has been your toughest opponent?
LR: Probably Sharapova last year at Wimbledon, or maybe Dementieva when she was still playing. She had a great game and was really tough to play.

We will cheer for who we like, its not for you to decide, not everyone here is Russia mad, so are, some are not, there are also American fans too and quite frankly, a lot of your posts border on the Xenophobic.

We are free to cheer who we like therefore, some will be glad Serena won the gold.

Please take your nationalistic and over patriotic opinions elsewhere, or at least accept not everyone will agree with you.

I also cheered for Serena, I like a lot of Russian athletes in different sports, but the shrieking one isn't one of them.
