From what I can tell, she has a training base in Spain. All of her pro and junior tournaments were centered around Spain this year.

Nope just looked at aussie rankings for that year and its very light on, there was a wa girl Wan-Yi Sweeting who was promising but she has disapeared with Nina Catovic and Jess Moore it seems ....

Tredoux is a 93 girl right? Alex has done quite well, for a long time it seemed that she would just become another Aussie bagel girl but she seems to have worked hard and she got a few wins over ranked international players this year.

When Tredoux, Nancarrow, Balint, Baric and Kafedjiyska are the top 5 of a birth year, you know it's bad. The latter three will be lucky to get a ranking. Kafedjiyska could probably be ok if she put her mind to it, but when I say ok...I mean get a ranking. Very low standards for 1993 |

i never noticed that we didn't have many 93 girls, but when i looked at the rankings then we only have 4 listed compared to 9 92s and 13 94s!
and why is Teiwa Casey called Maree Casey on the wta rankings now? was Teiwa just her middle name or what?

I suppose though, girls that age wouldn't have had many Aussie female tennis idols to look up to and motivate them to be great. If you were born in 93, then you would have been 10 in 2003 and 15 in 2008. Was there a lot going on in women's tennis in Australia during those years to inspire our young girls? A lot of controversy about Jelena Dokic, a bunch of very ordinary WC recipients and a few good runs by Alicia Molik is all I can think of...
Hopefully the past couple of years with Sam's success and others doing well, we'll see stronger contingents of juniors start to come through. What do you think?
