Fridman is tough, definitely one of the best 3 of her '98 generation now. So nothing to worrt about losing a set to her.
Good news is that Abanda lost
So the path to the semis looks much easier now. Sutjiadi is next and Loeb or Peterson next.
I hope Ana can make it to the semi, at least. It'd be great

Re: Ana Konjuh
Sutjiadi has had two very good singles wins this week, against Makarova (#9 seed) and Plews. Still, it's much better for Ana than having to play Makarova.
Ana has a very decent path to the SF. If she makes it, and if she has a good doubles result, she'll be very close to entering the top 10 for the first time.

And I am the one who hypes Anett
Anyway, the draw is panning out nicely, but Peterson could be tough

Re: Ana Konjuh
Ana plays Peterson in the QF. Could be tough but it's still better for Ana than having to play Abanda (who lost to Peterson in R2).
In this week's rankings, Ana is 36.25 points behind the #10 player and 38.75 behind #9. That's not a huge difference. If Ana beats Peterson, she will pick up 30 net points in singles. If she wins her QF doubles match she will net another 5 points, for a total of 35.
Good luck the rest of this week, Ana! (Next week too!)

Re: Ana Konjuh
^ But if she had to lose today, much better that it was in doubles rather than in singles.
Good luck to her tomorrow!

Re: Ana Konjuh
It's a shame about the loss, but far from disaster. Good luck in the next one!

Re: Ana Konjuh
Andrews and Townsend won together a grand slam and made another doubles final. So the match was pretty hard I guess.
