Re: What foreign languages sound like to people who don't speak them

The japanese sounds completely off to me (even realizing she was purposely boiling languages down to a few key sounds). It was especially the R's. They sounded very European and not at all japanese, so it didn't work. But the video is cute. I've always wanted to be able to hear what English must sound like to a non-native speaker.

The japanese sounds very off indeed. Good video though.

The east Asian one is a bit confusing. And she speaks too soft on Japanese

Japanese one sounds like Spanish to me. East Asian is just jibberish. Sounds like nothing.

Re: What foreign languages sound like to people who don't speak them

The USA is more like Californian, but it's still funny.

The Japanese sounded like Japanese to me.

The only thing wrong with the Swedish is that--based on my expertise from watching Jo-La interviews and episodes of Annika Bengston, Crime Reporter, the Swedes say "Ja" and "Absolut" almost as often as Yanks say "like" and "you know."

yeah, me too. The R's sounded like spanish alveolar flaps as opposed to proper japanese alveolar lateral flaps. I couldn't get passed it, but the japanese wasn't completely bad IMO. Though from other feedback this doesn't seem to be as noticeable to people less exposed to japanese, which is maybe the point I guess
