They should assign ranking points to it 
That would encourage a stronger field, less WTA/ATP opposition and mean that players who often have freak wins at Hopman Cup can get the points to match it  |

I still think it would add a competitive edge
I really love the format, as it gives players the opportunity to get some good matches even if they lose and to an extent takes the pressure off
