Re: Julia Görges Interviews and Twitter thread

BTW Julia changed her profile pic on twitter.

Comment by Kait O'Callahan:

Kait@kait_oc
Holy hell Goerge's profile pic really accentuates her boobs.

‎Julia Görges is going to be interviewed on the "Road to Roland-Garros"! What would you like
to ask her about her career?

That's really cool, will think about a question thanks.

Unfortunately can't get any freaking transcripts from Julia after her matches. It's so annoying to not know what she thinks --

Re: Julia Görges Interviews and Twitter thread

The German press is pretty harsh with her after her match with Rus.

http://www.abendblatt.de/sport/artic...als-Zicke.html

Quote:

Re: Julia Görges Interviews and Twitter thread

The European Football Championship has started.

Germany won 1:0 against Portugal.

And I'm relieved that Julia knows what matters.

Re: Julia Görges Interviews and Twitter thread

Statements from Julia's presser after her early exit in Bad Gastein.
Quote:

(APA)

Julia Goerges' Bad Gastein Blog: Tuesday

BAD GASTEIN, Austria - Many of the WTA's brightest stars won their first title at the NÜRNBERGER Gastein Ladies and Julia Goerges is one of them, conquering the picturesque clay court tournament two years ago. And now the German chalks up another first in Bad Gastein - her first WTA Blog. Read on...

Hi everybody,

Well, I played a solid match until the rain came, but when we started again nothing worked for me anymore. I didn't go for my shots and she was more aggressive than me, which is not good for me Whoever is scared to win and is not playing to win will not be successful. That happened to me today!

I will go out tomorrow and work with my coach on specific things...

Of course it's not easy when you are playing against an opponent you have never seen before, either. You don't know what to expect from them. But Richel played a good match today... but then again, I think I let her do that!

I'll be playing doubles here with Jilly and I'll try to do like last year - I lost first round but made it to the final in doubles! I'm enjoying my time here so I will try to stay as long as possible. I have to work on certain things but it's a great opportunity to do it here - and my fitness coach is also here, even better!

I have some friends visiting from home here too, so we will go out for dinner somewhere tonight. I don't know where yet. We'll drive around the area a bit and see... I'm sure we will find a nice place to eat.

Thanks for reading and I'll talk to you all again tomorrow

Jule

How did you and Jill become such good friends? Ian, USA
It has been some years Jill and I have been good friends. Now we are kind of in a team, because her coach helps me fitness-wise, and we work together with my coach. We hang out a lot too. On the tour you don't have many friends and people who are honest, but Jill and Raj are honest, great people.

It seems like you will be Top 10 soon - what do you work on the most in your game still? Jose, USA
Till the Top 10 it's still a very long way! I am too inconsistent still. I know when I play my game I can get there, but if it were that easy you could take a lot of players! Consistency is the biggest thing I have to work on. Also, you can always get fitter and improve the physical side - I'm working on that too.

Do you have any pets, or have you ever had any? Victoria
I have had two rabbits but they passed away a long time ago unfortunately Since then I haven't had any other pets. I would love to have a dog, but I don't know who'd take care of it when I'm on the tour - my mother wouldn't want to!

Hello again everybody

Today I slept in a bit longer as it was raining again, and we rescheduled our practice from 11 to 1pm. My coach and I went indoors and worked on some specific things, and it went well. It's always a good feeling when you are working hard and you see the results on the court. Of course you might think, 'If you can do this all the time, why didn't you do it yesterday?' But what matters is you are doing the right things that bring you further towards success in the future.

I actually thought we still had a chance to play our doubles today, but it got cancelled because one of our opponents didn't even start her singles. So our first round match got rescheduled for the third time this week :-) Why not? :-)

So tonight is soccer: Germany against Netherlands. I will be watching it and cheering big time for Germany. LET'S GO GERMANY! ROCK THE HOUSE! :-)

There was some bad news as Petko withdrew from Wimbledon. I already knew it was going to happen as we have an agreement to play doubles for the whole year, and so far we played one doubles match in Fed Cup! It's a shame what happened to her and I wish her a speedy recovery. We still have our goal alive that we set up two years ago, to play doubles at the Olympics, which would be a dream for us! We always have a lot of fun and are good friends. We get along pretty well and it's always so much fun with her on the court ;-) You guys know how funny she is. So we just hope that she comes back on time!

One thing I also wanted to mention is my Twitter, @juliagoerges. What I like about it is you can connect more with your fans. I like it more than Facebook. I can tweet a lot for the people who cannot travel to tournaments, so they can see what we're doing there. You can give them a look into other sides of your life.

Feel free to follow me ;-)

Best regards and we'll chat tomorrow again!

How do you get motivated before an important match? Christopher
I am always motivated for matches as it is my job and I always want to win. Of course most of the time when you have bigger success, everything is much more fun too! Also, you can get motivation from working hard and seeing yourself improving all the time. It motivates me even more when I look back and see where I was when I just started working with my coach, and then I see where I am now, and it shows me I'm on the right track!

Are you superstitious? What kind of rituals do you have before and during a match? Zeze, Portugal
I am not superstitious. Sometimes I take the same ball if I've served big with that ball, but unfortunately I have nothing else to tell you about!

If you could choose one superpower, what would it be? Tommy
When I'm about to go on a long trip to a tournament, I would like to beam myself to my final destination, just like in Star Trek!

Well our doubles was big fun today as we had some funny situations ;-) One example was Jill running to a drop volley and I thought she might not get it, so I screamed at her COME ON JILLY and she got it. We won the point! She was laughing for the next four points. I'm surprised she didn't laugh while she was running because I screamed pretty loud ;-) We had fun and played very solid.

My routines around my doubles matches are a little bit different than for singles. I do less speedy things before a doubles match. Most times when I only have a doubles match to play that day, I do a workout afterwards with my fitness coach, and we do my cool down there. When I'm playing singles, I make my cool down by running and stretching only. So that's the difference...

We didn't see our opponents' first round match, as they were playing on a different site, and we also still had to play our first round so didn't check our possible second round. I don't know much about them... we'll just go out there and play our game, and hopefully have a lot of fun like we did today! ;-)

Tonight we went to the same place we've been going to almost the whole week. It's a nice Italian place close to the hotel, and a lot of players go there as well. It's pretty good. It makes you feel a little bit like you're in the players lounge ;-) I had a little macchiato at the bar with my team and friends here and then came back to write my blog, like every day, which I am really enjoying by the way!

Talk to you all again tomorrow!

Jule

You have so many strengths, but what is your No.1 favorite shot? Jen
Thanks for thinking I have so many strengths ;-) I think my biggest strength is my serve. When it's really on it's pretty tough to break me, and I can use my forehand after the serve for some free points, which always helps.

Do you know if you will compete at the Olympics yet? David, Austria
The official nominations for the Olympics from the German Federation is on the 25th of June, so we will see, and I hope yes ;-)

What is the most difficult thing about playing on the WTA? Jorge
I'm the type of girl who loves to spend a lot of time at home and sleep in her own bed, so that's the toughest part for me - being away for a long time, like when you go Australia or the US.

Will you play any more doubles with Sam? Carl, UK
Sam and I always see which tournaments she wants to play some doubles at and where she doesn't, then we see if I already have someone by then or not. But I do really enjoy playing with Sam. We have so much fun all the time and her team is just great. They are all really lovely people.

Julia Goerges' Bad Gastein Blog: Friday

Our doubles went well today. We had two not-so-good games in the second set, but we were directly there again and overall did a good job. We couldn't watch our next opponents, because right after our doubles we went to do our workout. It's always fun working together with a friend - much better than alone ;-) And we still don't know who we play as they are still playing right now!

There's a lot of talk about soccer these days, obviously! I love to watch soccer, but most of the time only when Germany is playing, or my favorite soccer club, which is Bayern Munich ;-) Well so far they are doing great but it's still a long way to go. I know they have a quality team, so we are hoping for a lot ;-)

Have a nice day everyone and we'll talk again tomorrow!

Jule

What specific training helps you the most? Sue, USA
The work with my whole team helps me because we're always doing different things, specifically fitness-wise. So you never really do the same things, which is good for the body and mind too ;-) Fitness helps me the most, I would say!

Who will you play doubles with at Wimbledon? Lorna
I will play Wimbledon with my best friend, Jill Craybas. So we're already having a good warm-up here in Bad Gastein this week ;-)

What are the biggest adjustments when going from clay to grass? Alwyn
You have to stay low, you don't have much time on grass to create anything, and you can't move backwards. You won't have chances to do those like on clay - you always have to stay low and go through the ball on grass.

What is your favorite place you haven't been to? Vanessa, Germany
I have already been to so many destinations, so I can't really say! I have to say though, I love Australia a lot, especially Melbourne. I also like Auckland and of course here in Bad Gastein, but Austria in general I just like a lot!
