The 1991 generation

French journalists already mention the 1991 generation as the new 1979 girls.
According to you, will they be as successful as Amélie, Séverine, Nathalie or Emilie ?

_______
Here is an article (in French sorry) that goes in this direction.

Victoria Larrière a beaucoup progressé.

Re: The 1991 generation

Victoria Larriere (born in May 1991) played some good matches this year :
she defeated Klaudia BOCZOVA (SVK) - who is 31th in the world - twice and above all Julia COHEN (USA) in two sets. She made a decent show against Pervak (lost 63 75) and Pivovarova (lost 61 75).
She is at the moment ranked 133th which is actually not that bad. She seems to be quite talented, so I guess that she deverses to be followed.

Cindy Chala (mai 1991) won les Championnats de France 15-16 ans with some good victories over Radovanovic, Larriere and Goncalves. She is a lefty : she manages to find great angles, returns well and is relatively quick. Her serve and her volleys are weak though. She also lacks aggressivity. In a word, she is the typical French player like Dechy.
Her best win is over Palkina - 46th in the world.

Gracia should have won that final against her. From what I saw, Gracia is the best 1991 player, she has the firepower that is nowadays required. I really like her game. She just has to control her nerves.

You can see the video of the final here if I did not make a mistake :

Re: The 1991 generation

Gracia Radovanovic and Nathalie Mohn were in the QF of Luxembourg (Grade 2). There will be one French girl in the final of Ascuncion, I hope that it will be Victoria.
Finally, the 1991 girls are having some good results !

And Amandine Hesse, who is only 14, has just won a title in Algeria (Grade 5) !!!!!

Re: The 1991 generation

Some infos on Camille Sapène :

Quote:

Re: The 1991 generation

The Banana Bowl was not the greatest tournament for them.
They all lost in the 3rd round.
Cindy lost to Malena Gordo 75 61.
Victoria lost to Iona Ivan 76(2) 46 62

At least, they won't be too much tired for the Copa Gerdau which is a grade A. This is the tournament to win !! Good luck !

But an unknown teen Jenny Julien took the title of the 6th ITF Junior Oran in Algeria (Grade 4) defeating Amandine Hesse in the final 16 63 62. I would have prefered Amandine to win though

Updated ! Victoria and Cindy are in QF in the Copa Gerdau (so is Nelly Ciolkowski but she is born in 1990). The fantastic Kristina Mladenovic (13 years old) is in QF in a Tunisian tournament (Grade 3) as a qualifier.
Our girls all lost in Amiens.

Re: The 1991 generation

Cindy won her SF match and is now in final of a Grade A tournament . Impressive run and week !

She has really worked a lot, I wouldn't have thought she could get this kind of result. I hope she will beat Vaisemberg tomorrow because actually she didn't have to face players with references except Zsilinska, 13th in the world (but she is a moon ball girl). But she did what she has to do, I like her win against Jovanovski, as she is the one who took Hendler out.

Good luck Cindy !
