ART Birmingham S2 Week 5

Welcome Back to the Amazing Race Tour, here in Birmingham, England.

After a short break, the tour is back and sets to be bigger than ever with Wimbledon just around the corner. Birmingham will offer a great warm up event leading up to the third grand slam of the year. Many players will be looking to seek excellent form before they go into the London championships next week.

World number 1, Anna Chakvetadze still leads in the rankings being the number 1 player since Melbourne but with Wimbledon looming, will we see a shift in the rankings come the end of Season 2? Things are starting to get ery exciting on the tour. There are also a lot of new and exciting prospects playing their first tournament this week; Serena Williams will finally make her debut on the tour and her fellow young compatriots Melanie Oudin and Alison Riske will be present this week also. How will the British hopes deal with the pressure the next two weeks? All eyes will be on Laura Robson and Anne Keothavong but fellow new hope, Heather Watson may cause a stir here. Yet, we cannot forget some of the dangerous players that are lurking in the draw. The likes of Victoria Azarenka, Sabine Lisicki, Ana Ivanovic, Sam Stosur and Alize Cornet will all be present this week.

Points are due by Sunday 14th August 22:00PM GMT. PLease send points to no-hay-igual. Thankyou and Good luck

Laura Robson and Heather Watson to play together here. (They want to get ready for the 2012 Olympics!)

Venus Williams needs a partner! (Serena? Wanna play with Vee?)

Re: ART Birmingham S2 Week 5

British No. 2 and World # 10, Laura Robson Aims for strong grass season

Birmingham, United Kingdom---Laura Robson is coming to Birmingham! In the past year it has been a shocking renewal of British Tennis as Laura Robson and Anne Keothavong have both reached the top 10 of the ART in singles, and Laura and Heather Watson both maintain top 10 spots in Doubles. This week as the tour transitions to the Grass--Laura will attempt to reclaim her status as the British No. 1 in Singles--as Anne Keothavong is coming off an amazing run at Roland Garros, but my sources tell me that Laura is expecting to do terribly this week. So, I implore the crowds at Birmingham to show Laura some support, and just don't expect her to do well. Also--Laura is maintaining that Cibuslutkova will not do well on this tour again as she is often too busy off sleeping with Fernando Verdasco...or whoever Cibuslutkova's new boy toy is. The hope of an entire nation will fall on these young women this week...let us hope that they can defend the home turf beginning with Birmingham.

Re: ART Birmingham S2 Week 5

Double Trouble: Williamses to play Doubles at Birmingham

Watch out! The ART is in for a time of domination! The Champions of the old, no longer in existence WTA Tour have decided to combine their forces--as the incredibly powerful Sisters who have a cornucopia of shots that they can use to torture their opponents have entered the Doubles competition in Birmingham. Venus is evidently the more experienced of the two--as she has been playing on the ART for the entire season; however, we are expecting big things from Serena simply because she is Serena! I think that this combination definitely has a shot--and will definitely be a threat to the World's best players Anna Chakvetadze and Nadia Petrova who are both coached by Beesley (Only...the most legendary coach ever...)

Hopefully their draw will be kind to them...and they will get the chance to play a few easy matches before the tough fights begin!
