This one was totally unexpected, since Lottner is #243 and 1.5 years younger. Iva must have just run out of gas; too many matches recently. Unfortunately, no extra points for Iva.

Iva up to a new CH ranking this week: 74--up from 75

Iva is the #9 seed at the tournament this week in Berlin where Donna is also playing.

Iva needs to reach the last 16 to gain addt'l points, which is doable: in R1 she plays a Q. In R2 it's either a Q or a girl ranked in the mid-300s.

In all honesty, I expect another win from Iva. If you look at Fabikova's recent results, best ever ranking, results in seniors etc., it's pretty clear that eventhough she's the favorite on paper, Iva is actually a better player (in singles that is, Fabikova made it to doubles semis in Melbourne).

Unfortunately, no doubles QF for Iva, she and her partner lost to some unseeded team in a super tie-break. But as long as she's doing a great job in singles, I won't complain

Regardless, Iva has already had another excellent tournament. With today's win she'll likely squeeze into the top 60 next week. Our girl is headed for the top 50!
