Charleston R2: Stosur (2) d. Mayr-Achleitner 6-1 6-2
Mayr is a decent clay court player, so this is a very nice win for Sam for her first match on clay this year.

Her form is actually "decent". Poor by top 10 standard but decent enough to not lose in opening round in any tournament this year.
Except Safina, she has consistently beaten players outside top 40. It's the higher ranked players she's been struggling with.

Looks like a good result, Mayr had thrashed someone in the 1st round who I don't remember who she was

Exactly. A match up like this was never in doubt. Not even the most nervous of Stosur fans would think that she would lose this match. Players like Mayr are just flies waiting to be swatted. It's the bigger hitters, girls that make the play, that Sam has struggled against all year.
Vesnina seems to be playing well this week, Sam better watch out.
