NO LUCIC at PALERMO. Likely to fall out of Top 100 in the next few weeks. European tour gained no ground in rankings for her, but paid-off in Top 50 wins and quarterfinal appearances and 1st Round loser Slam-money.
Now comes the hardest part of the year -- no more main draw entries, except for the US Open. She'll need a significant run at a WTA tournament to remain in the Top 100 for 2011.

 Wow, Irina Camelia-Begu has come a long way swiftly; she was ranked in the deep 250s this time last year and now she's much higher than Miki and reaching tournament finals. She couldn't finish Vinci off in Budapest (after a 4-2 lead in set 3  ), but I wish Mirjana could get her act together like that.
Never forget Begu's freaky mother 2 years ago in Ft. Walton Beach when she took offense that I was, in her opinion, cheering too loudly for Mirjana. I told her to go smoke her cigarette somewhere else. Mirjana killed her precious girl, 4-6 6-0 6-2 that day, I believe.
Oh, Mirjana. Pull a "Begu" and at least get out of the 90s for awhile, somehow. |
