she's 16 and into her 1st WTA QF in her 1st WTA event @Tokyo Japan Open
beat Meghann Shaughnessy 75 76 in 1st  
and today beat Akiko Morigami 63 76 
now she plays Wimbledon champ, Maria Sharapova in QF

Youlia was born in Novossibisk and stayed there until she was 8

youlia not at the AO
I'm sorry to tell you that youlia is not playing the A0. Only one girl, Virginie Pichet was playing the Qualies (already out in the 1rst round), and she won't have a wild card, the aussies give one to Capucine Rousseau ranked around 130.
If you like up coming french rookies, you should follow Aravane Rezai who started to have good results on challenger tournements at the end of last year , Virginie Ayassimy (both are 17 i think) , Marina Cossou (16) and I hope that Irena Pavlovic will be one of the best up coming rookies (she's been winning a big junior national tournement this year and i like the way sh's playing (double handed both sides shot and great fan of Monica Seles  ) |
