I don't know what the match winner/unforced error totals for Caro and Aga were in their Sydney match. If anybody does know, pleass share. Thanks.

Anyways, Aga had more winners than Caro in both set 1 and set 2 so it seems a good bet that she finished the match with more winners. Aga also had more winners in their YEC match. Caro had more winners in the 3 matches previous to the YEC match.

I don't remember anything about Chris Evert's head spinning in some match. Maybe somebody knows something about this.

Well,our laws are different than yours;instead of just having the three colors,we have Green,Blinking Green(when the light is about to turn yellow),Yellow and Red.According to the law,you have to completely stop on yellow if you haven't begun entering the intersection yet.The monetary fine for crossing on yellow is exactly the same as crossing on red.Also,we have "police" who are only in charge of motor vehicle traffic and nothing else,and our actual police do virtually nothing with regard to that(it's hypothetically possible that a police officer will pull you over if he/she sees you driving highly recklessly and putting other lives in danger,but it's extremely rare).The wannabe cops I referred to above are called 'transitos',and they are well known for accepting bribes--even relatively cheap ones--even much more than our municipal cops do.....our state and federal police generally recruit a better caliber of individual.The one advantage we have over the corrupt U.S. insurance system is that your rates won't rise at all if you get petty traffic tickets;the companies will just cancel you sometimes if you do something very risky such as causing a serious accident.

In the case you asked about,the Transito gave me the ticket but there's an honest woman who's a supervisor at our Vialidad office and she knows our law very,very well....so I'm gonna ask her today if it's legal for the transito to guess at what color your traffic light was even when he/she didn't see it.If she tells me that the transito has such discretionary leeway,then I'll just pay the ticket.We're allowed to pay half-price if we do so within 15 days of the infraction

....Oh,and the reason why we almost came to blows is because he stuck his clipboard in(near) my face after I'd called him a lying crook...and then I smacked his clipboard away.He ordered,'Don't touch me!' and,technically,he was right because it's considered 'touching' someone...even misdemeanor assault...if you exert force against something that's in someone's hand.I replied that he should keep his fucking clipboard out of my face unless he was truly looking for a fight...and that he had unjustly violated my personal space.......so he let that issue drop and simply proceeded writing the ticket

EDIT:Forgot to mention that even the great majority of transitos won't give you a ticket for crossing on yellow as long as you didn't accelerate rapidly to 'beat' the red.It's considered petty and asinine to punish the driver when he/she didn't put others at risk at all and safely cleared the entire intersection before the light turned red.....it's pretty much just the bribe-seekers who enforce the law so rigidly when they think they might get some extra pocket money

One of the biggest sports stars in Denmark along with Caro is the mens handball team. They're the current European Champions and finished 2nd at the last World Cup. They'll be competing at the Summer Olympics in London but as seeds in the second lowest layer (5 of 6)! Sounds weird, right? Let me explain.

12 countries will be competing at the Olympics. The world champions and the continental champions from Europe, Americas, Asia and Africa as well as the host nations are automatically qualified.
The last 6 countries are to be found in 3 qualification tournaments with 4 teams each, consisting of the 6 best from the World Cup (who haven't otherwise qualified) as well as the #2s from the continental championships and the #3s from the two strongest continental championships, Europe and Americas. The two best teams from each of these 3 qualification groups are in the Olympics (these 6 qualifiers were all European teams).
The Olympics are to be played in two groups with 6 teams each. Each group will contain a team from the 1-2 seeds, the 3-4 seeds, the 5-6 seeds, the 7-8 seeds, the 9-10 seeds and the 11-12 seeds.
The seeds are determined like this:
1 & 2: The world champions and the winner of the toughest qualification group
3 & 4: The winners of the two other qualifications groups
5 & 6: The no. 2s in the two strongest qualification groups
7 & 8: The no. 2 in the weakest qualification group and the host nation
9 & 10: The continental champions from Europe and Americas
11 & 12: The continental champions from Asia and Africa

Naturally, like in other sports it's in team's interest to be a high seed. If for instance Denmark had been the #2 seed they can't be grouped with the world champions in Group Play, but even though they're probably one of the two best teams in the world they've been ranked near the bottom. In effect they have been punished for qualifying directly by winning the Euro Cup. The IHF (International Handball Federation) argues that they rank qualifiers higher than continental champions because the qualifiers played against countries from different continents while continental champions like Denmark naturally only played against countries from their own continent, even if all the best teams in the world are from that continent (at the World Cup the best non-European nation finished 12th!).

So, in effect all the seeds from 2-7 are European teams whom Denmark finished ahead of at BOTH the World Cup and the Euro Cup, but because Denmark's silver spot at the WC didn't qualify and the EC win wasn't an IHF tournament, it has no value when determining the seeds.

Anyone else think this is a bit odd?

On the other hand, handball sounds a perfectly logical game to play since humans do almost everything by hand. Most sports - especially ballsports are played with your hands. The idea of a game like football sounds about as logical as backball, assball or bellyball. Strange that this football game somehow works.
