AUCKLAND -- Tennis drawcard Anna Kournikova says she does not want any "fuss and bother" but news she is looking for male hitting partners at the ASB Bank Classic seems certain to produce a frenzy. <br />"She has asked us to find her some male hitting partners, which I'm sure will not be a problem," ASB Bank Classic tournament director Richard Palmer said yesterday.

Palmer also believes there is a chance that Kournikova might play doubles with Spaniard Conchita Martinez.

"Her people have, not surprisingly, been very secretive. Conchita is very keen to play doubles but until she gets here on December 28 we will not know what she has planned."

Martinez has asked to play her first-round singles on the Tuesday (January 1) -- the same day Kournikova will make her much-awaited first appearance at Stanley Street.

"This is shaping as `terrific Tuesday'," said Palmer, who confirmed Russian star Kournikova will play the second match of the day on stadium court.

With Martinez, the tournament's fourth seed, and unseeded Kournikova set for second-day action, top seeds Angeles Montolio (Spain) and Henrieta Nagyova (Slovakia) seem certain to play on opening day.

It says now in another thread that Conchita will play with Cara Black in Auckland. It would have been nice to see how Conchita and Anna would have gotten on as a doubles team but Cara is ranked number three in the world in doubles so Conchita/Cara should do well.
