So here we are, at the end of the first Fed Cup weekend. If you have any questions about understanding these rankings, feel free to ask. I did not count several matches that were originally in the order of play for day 2, because either:
- participant(s) of the match in question were not those that were initially listed in the official Fed Cup draw
- match wasn't a live one i.e. the winner of the tie was already known.
Let me just say that since this is the first time we're playing, we might be forced to modify rules as the game goes on, but I'll try to keep that at a minimum.
Next Fed Cup weekend is in April, when we'll play not only the semis of world group, but also the play-offs for both, world group and world group 2. So a lot of matches is still ahead and lots of things can change. If you want, you can switch teams before the next Fed Cup weekend to stand a better chance at winning, but keep in mind that people from the team in question have to accept you as a new member before you can join.

Happy with fifth place...I think the one-person teams probably have an advantage though as they can 'fluke' into good tipping without another team mate dragging them down

Exactly. That's why if we end up (at the end of the year) with some teams tied in the rankings, I'll give the advantage to the team with more players, cause I think that's really fair.
