Karen "Stalled between points and quick served her opponent on several occassions". The normal rest time before a third set is 10 minutes. Karen extended it to 20 vs. Hard and 30 when playing Ann Haydon, who complained about her gamesmanship earlier in the year at Queen's Club. 40 something Dodo Cheney the only unseeded QF as she upsets a vocal Billie Jean Moffitt in the round of 16.

According to some Aussie papers Hard reportedly so upset she is considering pulling out of her Aussie tour. Officials were unable to locate her for a whole weekend after she moved out of her hotel and left no forwarding address. Officials and Miss Hard denied there were any "Hard" feelings, proclaiming the whole matter a press manufactured controversy.

Yola Ramirez was said to be furious when ordered to play on through two games of rain-when the skies opened up and drenched her and her Aussie foe Robyn Ebbern, the court was already practically flooded. After her defeat the charming Mexican "blew her top" back in the dressing room, but wisely refused to make excuses in front of the press afterwards. Again a state championship has been rained out, though officials decided to make it up from Dec 15-17.

Smith gets her 4th straight win over Hard in the final. After 3 bad calls the American seems to give up.
