Re: Matches of the Week - 2011

from STANFORD website;

you know the tune, as expected;

TITLE;

No. 1 Stanford Routs UC Davis 7-0, Pushes Home Streak Into 2011
Stanford has now won 165 consecutive matches (133 regular season, 32 NCAA Tournament) on its home court.

No. 1 Stanford 7, UC Davis 0

DOUBLES
1) Barte/Tan (STAN) d. Chui/Heneghan (UCD) 8-2
2) Ahn/Gibbs (STAN) d. Koehly/Zamudio (UCD) 8-1
3) Li/McVeigh (STAN) d. Edles/Curry (UCD) 8-2
Order of Finish: 2, 3, 1

SINGLES
1) No. 5 Hilary Barte (STAN) d. Dahra Zamudio (UCD) 6-2, 6-0
2) No. 80 Nicole Gibbs (STAN) d. Megan Heneghan (UCD) 6-0, 6-2

Beauty contest I thank both teams for making this matchup happen Heneghan's backhand is pretty solid, but movement is a little suspect. Anyway played better at the 2nd set, frustrating Gibbs at times. Gibbs' 1st serve wasn't that good, but her serve return is good anyway, so

3) No. 23 Kristie Ahn (STAN) d. Ellie Edles (UCD) 6-3, 6-1
4) No. 47 Stacey Tan (STAN) d. Nicole Koehly (UCD) 6-4, 6-1
5) Veronica Li (STAN) d. Kelly Chui (UCD) 6-3, 6-0
6) Carolyn McVeigh (STAN) d. Lauren Curry (UCD) 6-2, 6-1
Order of Finish: 1, 5, 4, 2, 6, 3

Anyway, clearly both teams are way ahead of others.

Could be a repeat of last season, two teams meeting at the final. Problem is that it's STANFORD's backyard, the infamous Taube Stadium UF would wish it would've been theirs, them holding 2nd longest home winning streak ( 5 years?) Stanford's timing (to host NCAA) is just perfect

Feel like 3-6 will be interchangeable with Mather in there. I guess time will tell as the season goes along. Florida has a lot of depth and options.
