Ana's MIXED-DOUBLES
Ana never take too seriously hers doubles career and that will probably never be changed, but when we talking about mixed-doubles competition things are way different, especially now when it become Olympic discipline (since London 2012)! There is several reasons why she can be elite mixed-doubles player even if she stay mediocre in WTA doubles:
- Ana's forehand and serve is arguable rare weapons from WTA tour which is able permanently to damage decent ATP players. Her net game became better and better (which is not surprise for so naturally aggressive and tall player) and hers risky attacking returns are actually more effective in mixed-doubles (to male opponents) than returns of elite WTA returners.
- Mix's schedule is very reduced: 4 Grand Slams, Hopman Cup and Olympics is only tennis events with mix-doubles, which is not hard to managed even for TOP10 player in singles, and also players which playing everything can't take any advantage in this case. In general, as true tennis superstar, Ana can choose elite ATP partner which she want, but in mixed-doubles teams are traditionally from same country (at HC and OG "must be") so she is very lucky because Serbia is so big force these days in mans tennis.
So playing at Hopman Cup with Novak Djokovic, and at Grand Slams and Olympics with Nenad Zimonjic (which is not only elite player in ATP doubles so far but also already won 4GS's in mixed-doubles), our Ana Ivanovic is destined to be real treat in mixed-doubles competition. No doubt that Ana's biggest goal in mixed-doubles competition is to reach medal at London Olympics 2012 (unlike in tennis singles, in doubles OG Gold or even silver, have bigger value and prestige than GS title).

Re: Ana's MIXED-DOUBLES
I'd like to see Ana get more involved in mixed doubles, she seems to do well and it'll help develop her game. I guess she always has to be careful not to overplay though, too bad she had to withdraw from AO

Re: Ana's MIXED-DOUBLES
This thread deserved to be bumped, because now is less than 50 days before start of London Olympics where Ana Ivanovic will represent Serbia in mixed-doubles together with one of best ATP doubles players in XXI century, countryman Nenad Zimonjic. Like I already pointed couple times in past months on other threads, Ana's best, if not only serious chance to reach Olympic medal in London 2012 is mixed-doubles, because in singles it is day-to-day event and Ana fitness is simple not enough good to compete on high level in late rounds of this kind of tournaments. But in doubles fitnes is non-factor, Zimonjic is elite partner, and Ana will be also high motivated - unlike at slams where singles>>>>>>>>>>>>>>doubles (value of title), at Olympics every gold/silver/bronze is counted same fore You and Your country! Which is best OG mixed doubles will be Draw just of 16 (that means with only two oppening wins Ana/Ziki will be in semifinal fighting for medals in next two matches!). Ivanovic and Zimonjic should not be afraid of anybody, especially if we know that for example out of all mixed-doubles which compete at Roland Garros only 2 or 3 will compete in London (most of this doubles are from different countries, or one of players don't have enough good ranking to compete at OG).
Good luck and medal for Ana and Zimonjic in London!

I think they are first mixed doubles which confirm presence at Olympics since 1924
They announced that already in 2009!

According to Nenad Zimonjic - Yes (interesting that he will not play GS-Wimby in doubles with his OG-Wimby partner Tipsarevic)... but maybe Ana's groin injury change this plans.

Re: Ana's MIXED-DOUBLES
Ana will not play mixed-doubles at GS-Wimbledon!
I guess it's her decision after RG groin injury and stupid Wimbledon schedule which forced her to play unprepared day-to-day already since first round in singles.
Zimonjic will play with his standard mixed-doubles partner Srebotnik.
It's shame, because I still thinking that best chance for Serbia to reach some tennis medal in London OG right after Djokovic in singles are Ivanovic/Zimonjic mixed-doubles, but without competitive matches which they plays together, especially at grass surface - it not looks now so promising like year or just month ago
EDIT: I just compare RG and Wimbledon mixed-doubles draws and notice that in Paris played only 3 doubles where both players are from same country and in same time both are qualify for London OG.
In Wimbledon, on same courts where will be Olympics event, number of such doubles is 12

Just realized she pulled out of doubles.
If she is not ready to play day-to-day in her own event, then she shouldn't enter two events. This is plain irresponsible IMO. Not fair to Ziki at all. And perhaps she should just let JJ play with him at the Olympics. Is JJ playing with Janko? I forget.

No, Janko decided not to when he decided to play doubles with Ziki.
I agree with you.
