Up 6-3, 4-2 and she lost her mind. Horrible match. She played like a clam.
I watched the first half of the match. Shahar was leading 6-3 0-2, when I turned it off. It seemed that Pennetta was losing the match much more than Shahar was winning it. Shahar was making numerous errors on relatively easy shots while Pennetta was even worse. It therefore came as no surprise to me when I woke up to find that Shahar was beaten in this match. This loss will be a tough one to recover from.
It's just more and more upsetting when you think of it. Unless in peak form, which she clearly isn't, she's got no chance against Zvonareva (it's questionable at best even in peak form...), but she really had an ideal draw to make a slam QF - and with it the top 10 - for the first time since 2007.
