In what was expected an anticipated Final between the Russian and Belarusian, the first Set did not disappoint with predictions that the young Victoria Azarenka would be lifting the trophy, however coming into the first Set at 5-5, Azarenka seemed to flake becoming nervous and timid. Her shots seemed to bounce everywhere, with Anna Chakvetadze, getting the break and keeping her serve to take the first Set. Unfortunately, the Second Set was a different story. Chakvetadze seemed to gain confidence while Azarenka, made shocking unforced error after error!! Azarenka was graceful in her defeat, and had some good words for the woman who took the title away from the grasps of her hands!! Anna flooded into tears thanking Vika and all of her fans around the world for their support. She also advanced through to the stadium to give her Coach Beesley an emotional hug. They have worked hard for this special day to come!! Congratulations to Anna Chakvetadze who is our Australian Open champion, and a Grand Slam Champion!! Anna could find herself as the ART Tours No.1 player, but that is still unknown until the rankings come out tommorow!! Congratulations Anna and bad luck Vika who has come Runner-Up in two staright Finals now!! I am sure she will learn from this however!!
