Re: 1914 results

Week of November 23-29

Circa November 23-28, Victorian Championships, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (Grass)

?R: Dorothy Schlesinger d Meryl Waxman ????

FI: Phillis Stewart d. Dorothy Schlesinger 6-0 6-4

DF: Phillis Stewart/K. Westmoreland d. Lorna Gyton/Miss Le Neveu 6-3 4-6 7-5

MX: Phillis Stewart/Ashley Campbell d. Meryl Waxman/Pat O'Hara Wood 6-2 6-4

In 1914, this tournament also incorporated the Australasian Championships. There was no separate women’s singles event. The mixed runners up later married.

"Miss Stewart won the triple crown of NSW. A player of most intense effort and though she seems always as if she would find the exertions too much for her, she always seems to have another final effort ready for the last game. Words of praise for Miss Schlesinger who beat Miss Waxman and extended Miss Stewart in the second set of the final. Miss Sharp (SA) is a model of steadiness while Miss Waxman's game has fallen off this year".
