Re: Alizé season 2011
YES YES YES YES
ALIZÉ WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON! 7-5 6-1
She played really really well. She was agressive, her serve was very effective (but first serve % isn't high ).
It seems her coach calmed her down.
THAT spinny forehand is back
I hope Kim won't eat her and she can win more games than Carla. I would be very content with 6-7-8 games They will certainly play in the Rod Laver Arena or in the Hisense.
I'm very proud of Alizé. Keep on improving!

Re: Alizé season 2011
So happy, hope this match signifies how she will play from now on.
Even though she has Kim on Saturday, I think making the 3rd round and losing to Kim would be amazing for her.

Re: Alizé season 2011
One of Alize's best runs of recent times- the best in a slam for a while. The draw in the first 2 rounds was kind to her, since Maria Jose has not really been in the best of form in recent months, but nonetheless an excellent victory. Now she gets to have a no pressure match against Kim. I'm not sure Kim will win the whole title, but she is probably the favourite for the title, so Alize can just feel relaxed and play freely. However, there is a slight chance that Alize might get demolished, like Dinara did, which could be discouraging. Realistically Alize will not win against Kim. Honestly, that would be the upset of the year if it happened. But a decent score, 6-7-8 games as Pax says, would be good for her.
I didn't see the match today, but from what people say it seems she played some good tennis, which is great to hear.

Re: Alizé season 2011
Oh man, she played so well!
The first set was a big struggle, and she was trailing all set until she got back to level terms at 5-5. I can't quite remember what the score was but I thinnk she got down...5-3 or so, so from that point onwards she only lost 1 more game, amazing. Even though she got down early and had trouble holding, I always felt she'd win. At first she struggled with MJMS constant slices and drop shots, which was really, really annoying. She had 4 in the first two games, and about 10 in the first set. Towards the end Cornet started reading her game so much better, the drop shots dried up and Cornet started hitting the ball so well.
Honestly, her ball striking in the second set was brilliant, just such crisp hitting. She was nailing everything, and again her confidence just grew throughout the match. She was hitting outright winners off the return, and she dominated the rallies. I love seeing her happy and smile, and her reaction after winning was great. She again got good crowd support, she seems to be very well liked in Australia.
I didn't take any pics today, even though I was only a a couple of rows behnd the court. Was too interested, it was a really entertaining match with a fantastic outcome!

yes I watched the match and that's true, she recovered her good ball striking. Gave some agressive strokes with her backhand.
Good to see this Alize back on court, its been a LONG time she didnt play that solid against a top30 player.
Kim will be tough but nothing to lose so she could enjoy the moment and play without any tension.
