How many types of surfaces have you actually played on?
One of those "Getting to Know the Tennis Forum Community" threads.
Just curious to see how many types of tennis court surfaces you've played on and how much did each surface affect your game?
For me I've only played on hardcourt and green clay. For what I would call a "somewhat brainless pusher" style of play, I guess the green clay helped my game a bit. But, mind you, I'm mostly a recreational player.
Someday I would love to play on grass (the Gay/Lesbian Tennis Association has a grass tournament out in California that I hope to play someday) - but with no serve I'm sure I would get blown off the court. But it's all about having fun and the experience, right?
Anywho - please share your experiences.

Re: How many types of surfaces have you actually played on?
Indoor and outdoor hard, indoor "red" clay and indoor carpet.
I would LOVE to play on grass and outdoor red clay, but they're really hard to find in Canada...at least in my area.
Actually, indoor "red" clay is my favourite surface - so much slower than what I'm used to, and it makes up for my lack of speed. It also helps with all the spins I can put on the ball, with the backhand slice, dropshot and my heavy top spin forehand driving my opponents crazy.

Re: How many types of surfaces have you actually played on?
My local club has grass and asphalt courts so them. My school had red clay which is what I learned to play tennis on. And they had the US Open style acryllic hard courts, which I think is DecoTurf. I've played on indoor carpet as well.
But never green clay, or rebound ace.

Hardcourts and Green Clay. Here in the US it's really hot and all they have is outdoor hard or green clay

Re: How many types of surfaces have you actually played on?
It's crazy how many more different surfaces the UK has compared to the US.
I would really love to play on decoturf one day just because it is solid and flat. The indoor courts are nice, but most of the outdoor hardcourts I play on are this gravel-like shit or else 'all weather acrylic' which have a million holes in them to catch the rain.
