Re: The Valeria Savinykh Cheering Thread!
That cannot have been nice to watch . Still a good run to equal last year's. Hope for a kind draw this week in Paris, no points to defend. Good luck, Lera

Re: The Valeria Savinykh Cheering Thread!
I really enjoyed watching Davis here in Strasbourg. She played solid against Chang, demolished Garcia, difficult start against Minella but packed herself together again in a most convincing way and nearly defeated Larsson in one of the most exciting matches in Strasbourg so far.
In other words, this could be a very difficult nut to crack for Lera.....

Re: The Valeria Savinykh Cheering Thread!
I think her section is very do-able:
Stefanie Voegele SUI (9) v Noppawan Lertcheewakarn THA
Julia Cohen USA v Petra Rampre SLO
Myrtille Georges FRA (WC) v Yvonne Meusburger AUT
Lauren Davis USA v Valeria Savinykh RUS (16)

Re: The Valeria Savinykh Cheering Thread!
Not looking too good for Lera atm, she lost first set in a tie-break 10-8, despite being 6-4 up in that one, and now 0-3 down in second . She is a great figther, but it will be a tall order.

Re: The Valeria Savinykh Cheering Thread!
Lost 67(10) 16. I think she just lost motivation after failing to convert multiple set points.

Re: The Valeria Savinykh Cheering Thread!
She lost 3-6, 4-6 . Chan is a good grass player though. Next week another ITF in Birmingham, hopefully she can get some matches under the belt there.

Re: The Valeria Savinykh Cheering Thread!
Lera is now in Nottingham 50K and played her first round match against Qualifier Buyukakcay. She won with an odd scoreline of 6-0, 5-7, 6-0 . Apart from the tied second set, she scored a doubel bagel !

Re: The Valeria Savinykh Cheering Thread!
Women's tennis at its best. (Well almost, 6-0, 0-6, 6-0 would be more typical)
