The exact tournament's name was "British Covered Court Championships", not to be confused with the "London Covered Court Championships" of following years, also played at Queen's Club.

Re: 1899 Results

I found this result in the "Prager Tagblatt" online archive:

28 May-1 June, Bohemian Championships, Prague, Bohemia (Clay)

CR: Baroness Leopoldine von Ringhoffer d. Bertha Kalser (AUT) (holder) 6-2, 2-6, 6-4
--

It appears that the women's singles event for the Austrian Championships was held at a different time and in a different place, but this needs to be checked.

Excuse me Mark but in 1898 (see post #4 of that year) we have this result: FI: Frl Bertrand d. Frl Schmidt 6-3, 6-0
So, if there wasn't CR in 1898, Kalser couldn't be the holder in 1899.

About time and place of 1899 Austrian Championships, we have them held in Prague, circa early June (post #4 of 1899), like the Bohemian Champs.

Hi, Newmark. You are just one step from solving the mystery of Baroness von Ringhoffer. Leopoldine "Dinka" von Ringhoffer is this player's full name

I've tried to clarify that situation, but it's very difficult. Obviously if Frl Bertand - possibly Marie Bertrand, later Amende - won the title in 1898, Bertha Kalser couldn't have been the defending champion in 1899.

Bohemian added, for now with a "?" after the holder designation. And I want to add to the welcoming of LKK to the conversation. Great to have your input.
