Re: Mirjana Lucic Comeback Thread! pt2

Some surface stats from last year;

In 2010 Miki earned around 65% of all her points on hardcourts, but also, 13 out of her 25 events played, were on this surface.

However, if we would look at just 10 of her best results in terms of points won per event, which together account for more than 90% of all the points that she won in 2010, we'd see the following;
- 4 out of those 10 came on hard, one of them being USO;
- 2 of those 10 came on green clay and grass, one of those on grass being Wimbledon;
- 1 of those 10 came from each, red clay and carpet.

Looking at just those ten results, from two played on green clay she got just slightly less (82 points) than on two played on grass (100), eventhough one of those on grass was a grand slam.

This only goes to show that she might make a surprise this week in Charleston

Re: Mirjana Lucic Comeback Thread! pt2

OK, I'm not much of a prophet......but ...It was evident that Miki's serve was working quite good today (both, in terms of percentage and ace/df ratio) despite getting broken a few times. Also, losing 2 & 4 to Morita is absolutely more acceptable than losing by the same score to Meusburger

Re: Mirjana Lucic Comeback Thread! pt2

Just popping in for a second, here's a link to a photo of Miki looking extraordinarily fabulous and happy and drop-dead beautiful at the FCC players' party, in case others have not seen it, yet:

She looks great, I am certain everyone here will concur! Today's match seems a definite sign of progress. She has to be feeling better about getting a bit steadier. Cheers to all ...

Re: Mirjana Lucic Comeback Thread! pt2

It has been a looooong wait, but it's finally time to update Mirjana's ranking progress:

March 2008: 700s
April 2008: 600s
May 2008: 500s
July 2008: 400s
April 2009: 300s
November 2009: 260s
January 2010: 250s
February 2010: 240s
May 2010: 200s
June 2010: 160s
July 2010: 150s
September 2010: 100s
October 2010: 90s
July 2011: 80s

I'm so happy she beat Thorpe today. She had been stuck in the 90-110 range the past nine months

This will be her highest ranking since right after Wimbledon in 2000--exactly 11 years ago

Aaaabsolutely Faaabulous!

But hey, even maintaining that 90-110 range for that long was remarkable in itself -- it's very, very easy to fall backward from that position, as we've seen so many times when challenger players fail to make the transition to the tougher competition of the regular Tour. Rising is one thing; rising and staying up there's a whole different ball of wax. And to climb still further from there is .

Really, what a fantastic ride Miki has given us the past couple of years after a few false starts previously.
