That's a shame. She pretty much breezed through AO and won Singles and Doubles. I thought she would have definitely got another one this year. I don't normally follow her but it looks like she has been injury prone the last year or so. If she gets a full year on the junior tour plying like she did at AO she'll be ready for the top 100 IMO. Thought this year could have been that year. Hopefully next year An-Sophie

Re: 18 successive junior slams in a row won by different girls: WTA's future reflecti

I think their awful rankings performance looks worse than their inability to win 2 slams.

Right now it looks like the future of the WTA is Kvitova(and a few other top players) trashing these younger players.

I love that this streak is continuing If another new girl wins the US Open juniors then we'll tie the all time record of 20 consecutive different winners

Pavlyuchenkova was the last really good player coming through a good junior career.

Re: 19 successive junior slams in a row won by different girls: WTA's future reflecti

why does /alot of people/everyone think the junior tour is there to produce slam winners ?
There is no guarantee.

its a stepping stone.
Most top 10 yr end juniors get onto and eventually stay on WTA Tour. That itself is a successful progress from juniors to WTA.

what a pointless thread. (facepalm)

RG winner didn't even take part in the wimbledon, yeah there's a slight possibility of having succesive diferent winners if winners of previous slams don't even bother showing up.And the same thing happens in Atp..went as back as Australian open 2010 and each slam was won by a different guy, only some aussie dude had more than 1 final appearance..

How is this a pointless thread? It's an amazing streak---just 1 person short of tying the longest such streak of all time (currently we're at 19 different winners, and the longest streak ever is 20 different winners.)

However, the streak is now in jeopardy as Ashleigh Barty has made the Semifinals Hopefully Garcia can take her out, because I'm sure Barty would have no problem beating Gibbs or Min in the Final, and it would really suck for this streak to end when we're so close to breaking the record
