I'm not sure what to think of that huge "cast" of bandage around her foot.

Maria does not have to run, jump, practice serving, or anything but eat and sleep for a while. I hope that is good break for her.

Re: ** Masha News and Articles! ** Vol. 2
She doesn't really need any breaks. Shes played the least tournaments among Top 10 players and I fear this lay-off will hurt her chances come Istanbul

I feel quite the opposite. If Maria gets to YEC, she has absolutely no pressure. If she loses to anyone - it was the ankle's fault! And they'll be so gutted to lose to a "hobbled" Sharapova, they'll put too much pressure on themselves. Masha can just come out swinging and take some scalps. At least that's how it plays out in my head...

Maria plays and practices with a lot of intensity, and it seems like there are always various things like photo shoots, etc. It might not be a totally bad thing for her to just take things easy.....you know how serious she will be about everything as soon as she possibly can.

TennisReporters Matt Cronin
From on site staffer in Tokyo on Sharapova: Left ankle sprain, MRI showed no bone damage, but swelling was size of a tennis ball

Re: ** Masha News and Articles! ** Vol. 2
We knew that. Masha also wrote it. And Cronin also told me she probably made a mistake on fb, wanting to say no bone damage instead of no big damage. IMHO Masha is good enough in English to say what she really thinks and she wanted to write no big damage. However we knew how the swelling was supposed to be big, since it was seen after a few seconds of the injury... And ofc it got worse probably later in the day and today... For some days, the leg is going to be swollen and painful... Now I just hope she did not damage the ligaments too much...

Re: ** Masha News and Articles! ** Vol. 2
i twisted my ankle little over a month ago and it twisted similar way to maria's, it took around 2 maybe 3 weeks for me to not feel it so hopefully maria can recover quickly.

Re: ** Masha News and Articles! ** Vol. 2
I have no doubt that Masha will play the YEC Sprained ankles dont take too long to recover from. I hope she goes in and destroys the field YEC circa 2007 style (minus the final of course).
