It's Shahar vs. the Chinese (and their flat strokes on grass )
Do your best Shahar

Re: Shahar on Grass in 2010
Shahar lost 6-1 1-6 3-6.
Completely lost the plot after cruising in the first
I hope she learns from it coming to Wimbledon. We need easy first round.

Re: Shahar on Grass in 2010
Shahar vs Ivanovic 1st round!
What a match it should be!
I find it really hard to rate Shahar's chances in this match.
As far as match up I think Ana has the advantage with the big serve and FH, while Shahar's weakest surface is grass, but Ana's form is a question mark in each turny.
What do you think?
I don't like looking ahead, but he's the rest of her section:
Schiavone vs Dushevina
Pironkova vs Lapushchenkova
Kulikova vs South
Hercog vs Shvedova
Martinez Sanchez vs Arn
Kucova vs Molik
Martic vs Baltacha
Goerges vs Bartoli
Peer vs Ivanovic
Mirza vs Kerber
Voracova vs Groth
Groenefeld vs Safina
Kleybanova vs Zahlavova
Arvidsson vs Kudryavtseva
Makarova vs Szavay
De Los Rios vs Williams V.

Re: Shahar on Grass in 2010
Form/Confidence is like 90% in tennis. Ana serve can be erratic and if Shahar plays on her backhand she should win.
I have a feeling it will go to three sets.
Please do well Shahar

Re: Shahar on Grass in 2010
Very difficult first round match for Shahar. I'm not even sure that she is the favorite to get to the second round.

Re: Shahar on Grass in 2010
Bad draw. If she passed this high hurdle, she'll probably be able to make in to R4 again, despite her bad H2H with Mirza and given Safina's rotten form.
It's impossible to know which Ana will show up, but it has to be said grass isn't her forte either. Her only deep run ever on the lawn was at Wimbledon in '07 (SF), and last two years (R4 or worse) she had to save match points against Hradecka (FCOL) and a semi-retired Dechy. Did nothing in the preparation events either.
Given Shahar has already beat her twice before (when Ana was in much better form than now), I don't think confidence will be a problem, and would still rate Shahar as a 2-to-1 favorite.

Re: Shahar on Grass in 2010
Peer aims for top 10 finish at Wimbledon
By Simon Griver, June 17, 2010
In-form Shahar Peer goes into Wimbledon knowing that a good performance could take her into the world's top 10 for the first time.
Ranked at a career high of 14, Peer had the worst possible preparation for next week's grand slam when she tumbled out in the first round at the ATP AEGON tournament at Eastbourne to China's Zheng Jie (26).
This was Peer's first defeat in the opening round of a competition this year.
Describing grass as her least favourite surface, the 13th seed believes she can beat her previous best Wimbledon performance two years ago when she reached the fourth round.
"I feel I can beat anyone, including the Williams sisters," said Peer. "There is much more aggression and strength in my game this year, both physical and emotional. I have only just turned 23 so I'm confident that I will reach the top 10."
Eastbourne aside, Peer is having her best-ever season, having reached the semi-finals of Dubai and the Spanish Open but despite her declarations she is eager to avoid the Williams sisters who have beaten her six times this year.

I'm afraid you might have to meet Venus

Poor Dinara its hard enough to come back to the top, but even more so with an injury that keeps bugging you all the time.

Shahar's new strategy is to get to the fourth round and have somebody else beat Venus in the second or third round!

Re: Shahar on Grass in 2010
Shahar won 6:3 6:4
Should have been something like 2 and 2, but I'll take it.
Apart from the BP convertion I thought she played pretty well
Keep going
