They beat Top 10 Northwestern and Michigan. They have lost to Duke, UNC, and Baylor. I don't think it is a coincidence that their two wins came against other midwest schools. I think all three are overrated. We shall see though...

Re: NCAA 2010 TEAM predictions

My scenario is pre-programmed, which means that USC wins it all.

Since USC men won last year, and Ojai finals this year went ALL to my satisfaction,

I believe my noetic powers

So, bear that in mind.

BU
UT

STAN
CU

MICH
TENN

ND
USC

---

UM
NU

GT
UF ; Now UF meets a tough opponent, UW. Singles Chan & Dy.
Doubles, they sent 2 teams to the semi and 1 team to invitational final at Ojai.

Duke
ASU or UCLA

USC or FSU
UNC

----
----

BU
STAN

MICH
USC

NU
UF

If UCLA defeats ASU, UCLA
UNC

----
----

BU (beating STAN 2 years in a row)
USC

UF
UCLA
----
USC; a miracle!!

Now I hesitate. UF is THE team to beat, but never underestimate UCLA.

Anyway the final winner is USC, so whatever

Your right fantic, I'm a huge Michigan and Big Ten fan excluding Northwestern. Can't stand them. Michigan lineup a lot different from what is was when they beat Baylor. It's better balanced now with stronger front-end lineup.

"Can't stand them" - how do you really feel?! Well, I guess you're entitled based on results in the past several years. As for me, I love the overdue rivalry and feel it's a good thing for the Big 10 now hat we have 2 "top 10" teams.

Regarding your comment about being better balanced now vs. earlier in the season, if that's true then what happened in the Big Ten final?

OMG Just like me? Huge Pac 10 fan excluding STAN? Hmm....I was neutral watching Baylor Stanford at College

Station, and anyway it was too late so had to go to sleep after Barte won against Ormond..

But will I root for Stanford if they meet BU again? Honestly, dunno

And I have a lot of respect for NU They were good at College Station..

Hmm maybe I really should buy a hat or visor of ASU online (I've collected some of those anyway, so why not)

I was at the Big Ten tournament over the weekend and I think maybe Michigan had a little bit of a letdown after winning the Big Ten regular season title. At the tournament, the match against Northwestern was closer then the score indicated with four matches going into the third set. Michigans's No. 2 player was 2 points away from winning that match fairly easily after losing the first set. They were in control and winning at No. 6 and at the No. 3 match was close as well before they were all abandoned. Michigan lost the third set at No. 5 which decided the match. I know a loss is a loss but Michigan still had a chance to win it at the end if they had won all four of the three-set matches. If they had all played out it probably would have been a 4-3 Northwestern win. No excuses though, Northwestern was the better team on Sunday.

Agree much closer than 4 - 0 indicates; either 5-2 or 4-3 the likely finish. I guess I was just puzzled at your comment about UM's new lineup. Baylor handed it pretty well to NU earlier in the year so unless something changes, it will take more than an upgraded lineup although their first real test will be ND....will be fun to watch......even for the rival teams

Re: NCAA 2010 TEAM predictions

Can someone explain why Virginia is hosting Duke even though Duke is seeded 10th and Virginia isn't a top 16 seed?

Men's team is hosting, but the UVA men's is as well. Might be the overlapping of scheduling and UVA has more courts??

Re: NCAA 2010 TEAM predictions

It's due to the fact that Duke is already hosting the men's tournament. I think Duke doesn't have as good facilities as UVA. UVA has like 13 courts and 4 other courts on campus. In the event of rain, they also have access to Boars Head's indoor tennis courts (which is a super, super nice facility). The indoor facility has hardcourts and claycourts, and have been used for ITA championships.

its_a_racquet...I agree, it is a lot more fun having rivalries and Notre Dame, Michigan and Northwestern have develop a great rivalry and it should continue over the next few years based on the new players coming in next year.
In regards to saying I cant stand Northwestern, its probably the same as I hear on this forum about people talking and saying they dont like Stanford in the Pac Ten. Thats when you know you are developing a good rivalry!
