Nao Hibino

Nao looks like another young Japanese rising star who is scoring good wins lately.

This week she won her first match on WTA Q beating Miyamura 64 75 in Osaka.

Nao is on the cusp of breaking the Top 200.

I got so excited when I saw her name on the acceptance list for $25K Mumbai (#1 preference). Of course, she withdrew, deciding to follow the pack and play $50K Bendigo instead. While I would normally support playing the bigger tourney, 2 weeks in India could've been a great opportunity to rack up points.

As they say in Japan, "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down."

Anyway, she'll play the All-Japan Champs next week...
