Re: Aussies in WTA events
Sacha just stumbled at the nitty gritty end of the first set, up 40-0 and then advantage on her serve at 5-4 before Dominguez Lino broke back for 5-5. still a chance though...

Re: Aussies in WTA events
Steph in Baku Q is a seed, and all seeds 5-8 gets an easy R1 opponent except for Steph who gets Dzehalevich..

She really does get very dodgy draws all the time. She would have beaten all the others

Re: Aussies in WTA events
(1)Sacha Jones (AUS) v. (wc)Anna Smolina/(5)Daria Gavrilova (RUS/RUS) (Sacha has BYE QR1)
Bengson has Dzehalevich, when she could have gotten a WC or Khrisanova

Re: Aussies in WTA events
Sacha qualified in Baku with a very handy 6-3 6-2 win over Gavrilova

Re: Aussies in WTA events
I think Casey will get the wildcard. I don't think she made the cut right? (it's top 104).
I'm pretty sure Casey has it in the bag if that's the case.

Re: Aussies in WTA events
Yeah Casey is 5 out of the MD apparently.
She'll definitely get it. As long as Barty doesn't I don't care who gets it (I love Ash, but that would be an absolute joke if she got another handout!)

Re: Aussies in WTA events
Seriously? Casey's had ordinary results in the past few months. If Liv finds form again (she's playing a $50K in America this week) then she might be a chance . Sacha's the only top 200 player who's been posting half decent results in recent months. I think all three should be considered.
Whether all three *will* be considered is another story

Re: Aussies in WTA events
If Casey get's the WC, then that's from TA. (As much as I love her).
Sacha deserves it. Look's like the move to Australia is starting so reap some rewards. Keep it up
