Polish Wild Card makes Torun final
The latest installment of the Bella Cup was, for the first time, held in a brand new club. The City Council of Torun decided to build a new tennis center on the slope over the Vistula river. Although some people missed the old site which was only a 5-minute walk from the Old Town, the new club still proved a hit with its show court with pines overshadowing one part of stands, four other match courts and also four practice courts. All match courts featured good lighting and the club house was really well presented with spacious locker rooms, offices and the restaurant.

To the immense joy of the spectators, two Polish players made into the semifinals with mixed results. No. 4 seed Katarzyna Piter lost to the No. 1 seed, Russia's Ksenia Pervak, whilst Magda Linette saw off the No. 5 seed. So it was again, for the second time this month and infact her career to date, that Magda Linette was competing for the title in the final of a $25,000 ITF Pro Circuit tournament. Coming into this tournament with a WTA ranking of 109, Ksenia Pervak proved too strong for the Polish Wild Card entrant, winning in two sets against the player ranked almost 300 places below her at 404.

In doubles, second seeds Teodora Mircic (SRB) & Marija Mirkovic (AUS) came from a set down to defeat the all-Polish team of Katarzyna Piter & Barbara Sobaszkiewicz.

It has been reported that the title sponsor of this tournament, Bella, is now thinking of upgrading the tournament to $50,000 or maybe even to $75,000.
