Is this what you are looking for? Djul, you can help us out here with the translation please.

http://www.superillu.de/leute/Steffi...d_2163780.html

Man bekommt in Amerika allerdings eher grünen Spargel.

Ich hab was gegen Schimpfwörter. Wer weiß, was später in der Pubertät mal passiert?

Katie, I watched the whole HOF induction live on Tennis Channel. Steffi was called on stage by the IT HOF chair to get her ring for HOF induction which was a new tradition and the chair felt uncomfortable giving it to her and wanted Andre to do the honor (Personally, I feel it was a trick to get Steffi on stage otherwise she wouldn't be on the stage). And Andre kneels down when she appears on stage before he gives her the ring. I thought someone else posted the link you were asking for previously. If you have already watched that link, then that is pretty much it, you haven't missed much.

Hola everybody!

That article is indeed not easy to translate, and not only because of all the cooking terms in it. And furthermore the article is rather long.

Is the Google translation good enough as a preliminary help to roughly understand the interview? I can polish the Google translation when I find the time for it, but I can't make any promises that this will be very soon.

Google translation:

Quote:
Beaming as she stands in her black pants and a light brown cashmere shirt, with a glass of tea in hand and smiles patiently in all cameras. Quietly, as is her kind, Steffi Graf came to the capital to open in Frederick Street to the first Tealounge of "teapot". Although the former tennis queen ended her outstanding career in 1999, it counts, according to a recent Forsa poll is still the most popular and most recognized German. Together with "Schumi" Steffi Graf was the best German athletes of all times.

SUPERillu Star Index: All about tennis star Boris Becker
But as German is her life in her adopted home of Las Vegas, where she lives with husband Andre Agassi and their children Jaden Gil and Jaz Elle in a spacious estate with a swimming pool and tennis court on the outskirts of the city? How much home is still in Steffi? What the native Brühlerin missing in the U.S. the most? After their press event in Berlin, Steffi Graf met with the SUPER illu-editors who interview them to start with a crispy piece of German homeland surprised ...

"Hi, I'm Steffi," she says, smiling gently, holds out a hand - and immediately breaks the ice. First impressions: It works much more delicate and narrower than had been expected. And despite its worldwide popularity it lays a pleasant shyness on the day.

Mrs. Graf, we have brought you a couple of fresh pretzels, because we know that you are a fan of German baked goods. Especially with something sweet, you should be able to say no to bad ...
That's right. I pass no bakery. I am less of the chocolate pie friend, but with cheese, crumble or apple pie I'm weak. And my mother can make a really great Swiss roll with peaches and cream ... As a child it was for us to go to every day before school in the bakery and get a bun, a snail noodle (Ed's note: Schwäbisch for sweet baked goods such as cinnamon or raisin rolls) or something. This was certainly not the healthiest, but in compensation there's so much fruit

Bake for himself?
Yes, very much even. We adhere to anyway, and often much in the kitchen. This is the central place in our home. My husband cooks very much, I bake - for example, marble cake or cupcakes and Mufns, and the children we help.

That means you have no personnel who cooks for you? Because that was a question that one of our readers had to you ...
No, we have no staff. We cook for yourself - go eat but also likes.

Come at times you even German food on the table?
Of course. The steak there is way ahead. Also likes chicken. And vegetables such as peas or asparagus I cook like my mother on German Art in America, but rather one gets green asparagus.

They live for eleven years in the home of her husband Andre, in Las Vegas. Grabs you not sometimes homesick for Germany?
No. I have so often in the ability to fly to Germany, because not only comes to nostalgia. Which is a shame, however, that as a family we rarely have the opportunity to come here together. Because the children have great fun here.

With us is almost never scolded. Neither in German nor in English. I've got something against profanity. It happens quite often that my time is a dirty word on the lips. But even the children are young. Who knows what happens later in puberty again? But I think the understanding that one always chooses his words carefully, have both.

And what about German songs? Sounds to you even once "Johnny small" through the house?
This can even Jaz Elle play on the piano. This is totally sweet. Our children are both very musically inclined. No idea where that came from. (Laughs) They both take music lessons, and the teacher has taught them a few German songs.

Play back with the idea, eventually to Germany?
No, because we have no plans. Las Vegas is sure to become our very center of life. It is home to Andres, the children go to school there and are fully integrated. And a big part of my family now lives in Las Vegas. (Editor's note:. Her mother and brother and his family now live in Las Vegas.)

My son plays baseball, your daughter rides. Mutti is then on the sidelines and cheering for?
Of course. Although Andre and I would like to have our sports past a somewhat mellow view on how to be involved in the sport. Nevertheless, we support our children, cheer them on and are pleased that they have found something, what they enjoy.

Are you glad that your children have decided against the sport of tennis?
With the riding we have already so our worries. But Jaz Elle, it has now chosen times. And as for tennis: Andre and I know best how difficult the path would have been if they had chosen. That would not have been easy for us. Therefore, we have never pushed in the direction of tennis, but they always left open on the contrary all the possibilities. Both have been tried in several sports and still do. For us it is only important that they have fun.

She and her husband Andre Agassi apply since your coming together 12 years ago as a dream couple. Feel yourself as such?
Yes, absolutely. To nd a partner for life is a gift. One hears and sees even more and more how difficult it is to have a long term working relationship, and how many fail. To feel so much harmony, balance and security, as in our family - that I consider to be very lucky.

You and Andre seem to be very contradictory. Or deceptive impression?
Yes, something is wrong. Of course there are things which others are more than me. But in essence - what comes to values, attitudes and ideas about the future - we are very similar.

She and Andre are often Valentine's Day, birthday or other even forget your wedding day ...
For us these days are actually individual not so important. We will not forget them really, but they have no great significance for us. Therefore we celebrate such occasions not excessively. For us, every single day of the year is important because no one needs to be highlighted.

Now you are about to celebrate, on 22 October 10th your Wedding anniversary. Is there any reason for a bigger party?
We will not pass over him. But we also prepare anything special. We concentrate more on planning the children's birthdays.

© dpa (Steffi Graf with children Jaden Gil and Jaz Elle at the 2005 U.S. Open), it means yes, a couple should indulge now and then time together. Where does that leave you? With a cup of tea, snuggling in front of the fireplace - at 40 degrees in Las Vegas?
Oh, with us there in the winter can be very cold, around zero degrees. In recent years we always had snow. And we make it clear to the fireplace. Andre and I enjoy it very much, in the evening after a long day of sitting in front. There is something very soothing.

They are as down to earth, warm, sympathetic. Be honest - you have one or the other "quirk"?
Surely even. I'm often a bit too hectic for me even steal too much time and treat myself to a little peace and quiet ... And sometimes I'm too organized. If you ask my friends, you will surely find some more. (Laughs)

According to a survey showed that 37 percent of Germans you for the biggest female idol. Do you understand that?
That's a huge compliment. But it is hard for me to see me like this or to find justifications for it. I much rather just talk about others than about me.

The more we thank you for this interview!

Re: Steffi Graf Admiration Thread Vol 2

The google tranlation is strange, sometimes they forget "not", "You" (Sie) becomes They, I understnad why, but it's just non sense when you read it sometimes. And i don't speak about the choice of vocabalury totally out of context.

Here is my try

Quote:
Steffi Graf has no homesickness(does this word exist? I will pretend that yes it does. It means missing your home country)
by Martina Scheiner & Susi Groth

Steffi Graf is still the most popular athlete in Germany, although she doesn't play tennis for a long time and no longer live in Germany. We met her and talked about her feelings, home, her children, her life in Las Vegas and her marriage with Andre Agassi. SUPERillu-Exclusive Interview

Beaming in her black pants and a light brown cashmere shirt, she is here with a cup of , smiling patiently to all cameras. Quietly, as usual, Steffi Graf came to the capital to open the first "Teekanne"(the brand) Tealounge on Friedrichstraße ( the Street's name) . Although the former tennis queen ended her outstanding career in 1999, she is still, according to a recent Forsa poll, the most popular and most recognized German. With "Schumi" (men), Steffi Graf has been elected the best German athlete of all times.
But how much German is her life in her adopted home of Las Vegas, where she lives with husband Andre Agassi and their children Jaden Gil and Jaz Elle, in a spacious home with a swimming pool and a tennis court ? How much home (Germany) is still in Steffi? What is the native Brühlerin missing the most ? After meeting the press in Berlin, we met Steffi Graf to interview her, and we had homeland surprises for her ...

"Hi, I'm Steffi" (this made me laugh, as if they ignored who she was, and she said STEFFI : I knew it she doesn't care!) she said smiling gently, shaking hand - it immediately broke the ice. First impression : she seems more gentle and thin than what we had expected. And despite being famous worldwide, she still has her pleasant shyness.

Mrs. Graf, we have brought you a couple of fresh pretzels, because we know you like it. But you can say no ...
That's ok. I am less chocolate pie freak, but with cheese, crumble or apple I'm weak. And my mother can make a really great Biscuits with peaches and cream ... As a child we go to the bakery everyday before school to get a piece (too much German cakes name to translate sorry , I AM LOST ! lol). This was certainly not very healthy, but in compensation there were fruits.

Do you cook yourself?
Yes, very much. We are often in the kitchen. This is the central place in our home. My husband cooks very much, I bake - for example, marble cake or cupcakes and Mufns, the children help us.

That means you have no employee who cooks for you? Because that was a question that one of our readers had to you ...
No, we have no staff. We cook by ourselves - and go to the restaurant often too.

Is there German food sometimes on the table?
Of course. The Schnitzel. Also likes Huhn (German BBQ Chicken recipe). And vegetables such as peas or asparagus I cook like my mother, German way.
(lots of cook vocabulary ^^ sorry, it'salready hard to understand for me into French)

You live for eleven years in your husband hometown, Las Vegas. Don't you feel sometimes homesickness ?
No. I have so often the opportunity to fly to Germany, so. Which is a sad, however, is that we rarely have the opportunity to come here together, with the whole family. Kids have great fun here (in Germany).

(picture)

Do you speak German with your children - or swearing sometimes into German?
We almost never swear. Neither in German nor in English. I've got something against swearwords (bad words, i don'tknow the exact word for "F word" lol, "bad language" perhaps). It happens to me very rarely that a bad word come to my lips. The kids are still young. Who knows what will happen later ? But I think the know and choose their words carefully, both of them.

And what about German songs? Do they know "Hänschen klein" (German song for children I suppose) ?
Yes, Jaz Elle can even play it on the piano. This is totally sweet. Our children both really like music. No idea where that came from (Laughs). They both have music lessons, and the teacher has few German songs for them.

Do you sometimes think of the idea, eventually, of coming back to Germany?
No. Las Vegas has become too important in our life. It is Andre's hometown, the children go to school here and are fully integrated. And a big part of my family now lives in Las Vegas. (Editor's note:. Her mother and brother with his family now live in Las Vegas.)

Your son plays baseball, your daughter horse riding. Do you cheer for them ?
Of course. Although Andre and I, because of our past, know how difficult it is for a parent to be involved. Nevertheless, we support our children, cheer for them on and are happy that they have found something, a sport, they enjoy.

Are you glad that your children have didn't choose tennis?

With the horse riding we have already our worries. But that's what Jaz Elle has chosen. And about tennis, Andre and I know so much how difficult it would have been if they had chosen tennis. It wouldn' t have been easy for us too. Therefore we have never pushed them into tennis, but we never know they still can change minds. Both have tried several sports. For us it is only about them having fun.

You and your husband Andre Agassi are now together since 12 years. You're seen as a dream couple. Do you see yourselves as such ?
Yes, absolutely. To find a partner for life is a gift. It's so difficult to have a long term working relationship, so many fail to find it. To feel so much harmony, balance and security, as in our family - so that I consider myself as very lucky.

You and Andre seem to be very different, quite the opposite. Or is it a wrong impression?

Yes, it's wrong. Of course there are things, we are different. But when it comes to importants things - values, behaviours and ideas for our future - we are very similar.

You and Andre often forget about Valentine's Day, birthdays or even your wedding day ...
For us these particular days are not so important. We will not forget them for sure, but they have not this much significance for us. That's why we don't celebrate such occasions excessively. For us, every single day of the year is important and no one needs to be highlighted (the star of the day ?).

Now you are about to celebrate, on 22 October 10th your Wedding anniversary. Still no reason for a big party?
We will not forget. But we won't prepare anything special. We'll focus more on planning the children's birthdays.

(picture)

You are as down to earth, warm, and nice. Be honest - you have "quirk"?
Sure. I'm often a bit too frantic stressed, agitated, I should try to find more peace and be quiet ... And sometimes I'm too organized. If you ask my friends, you will surely find some more (laughs).

According to a survey, 37% of Germans voted you as the greatest female idol. Do you understand that result ?

That's a huge compliment. But it is hard for me to see me like this or to find justifications. I much rather just talk about others than about myself

We thank you so much for this interview !

Re: Steffi Graf Admiration Thread Vol 2

Pretty miffed with one of the questions in Wertheim's mailbag and his response as well
But at the same time found this in the same mailbag about someone who visited Las Vegas and had to say this:

Andy Fouche of San Jose, Calif: "I was in Las Vegas this past weekend at the Darling Tennis Center playing in a tournament when none other than Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf took center court and hit against an unknown (to me), albeit good player. Come to find out, the guy paid $20K to take a lesson from the two; the money went to Agassi's foundation. They couldn't have been more gracious, talking to fans, taking pictures, signing every last autograph. We were leaving the facility and saw two black Escalades pulling out (the tinted window, bulletproof, celebrity kind), thinking 'There they go, Andre and Steffi.' But no, the humble pair walked out together (alone) and into their normal car about five minutes later, without an entourage and back to their lives. The Escalades, we found out later, belonged to the guy who paid for the lesson. Ha!"
