Not exactly good news. Sure, she'll get the benefit of playing a few warm-up matches, but it's still a lot of effort for just 1 point. Some wild-card in MD R1 would've been better, but OK, sometimes you get what you want, sometimes not...

WC in uzbekistan for croatian player isn't realistic, this situation is for sure disappointment for donna's team. Going in such long trip was gambling, for GIFu they put MDO.

Does MDO stand for Main draw only???
Also, why was she flying from Gatwick. What flights from Uzbekistan go to gatwick??(and yes there are direct flights to tashkent from london)

Donna safely through to R2 (actually that's an understatement...) after a 6-0 6-3 win over Jegiolka. Although expected (by me at least), still a very nice result considering that her opponent is top 400 with a c-h close to 300.
Next up is probably Wienerova (#263, c-h 128), but let's wait and see if it'll come to that. Donna has nothing to lose in R2 so hope she gives it her best out there.

Well done Donna.
I don't think she should be afraid of her next opponent since i believe Donna already has quality for (atleast) her opponent's current rank. Also, she is well warmed up from 3 matches, used to court and conditions so i'm hoping for a win. |
