2014 Dual Match Line-Up Discussion

Duke unveils their line-up:

Singles Competition
1. #49 Hanna Mar (DU) def. Maria Belaya (WM) 6-2, 6-2
2. #45 Ester Goldfeld (DU) def. #89 Leeza Nemchinov (WM) 6-2, 6-2
3. Chalena Scholl (DU) def. Melanie Roy (WM) 6-0, 6-0
4. Nabila Farah (WM) def. Annie Mulholland (DU) 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9)
5. Marianne Jodoin (DU) def. Sydney Smith (WM) 6-0, 6-0
6. Alyssa Smith (DU) def. Julia Casselbury (WM) 6-2, 6-0

Interesting to see Chalena slotted at No. 3 (which actually could be No. 4 or even No. 5 when Capra and Kahan are added into singles).

Re: 2014 Dual Match Line-Up Discussion

Chalena is by far the second best player on that team. But Duke has a history of stacking.

Re: 2014 Dual Match Line-Up Discussion

Virgina with some interesting choices.

Singles
1. #28 Danielle Collins (UVA) def. #65 Maria Belaya (W&M) 6-4, 6-3
2. #43 Rachel Pierson (UVA) def. Melanie Roy (W&M) 6-2, 6-2
3. #89 Leeza Nemchinov (W&M) def. Li Xi (UVA) 7-5, 7-5
4. #85 Stephanie Nauta (UVA) def. Nabila Farah (W&M) 6-2, 6-1
5. Marie Faure (UVA) def. Sydney Smith (W&M) 6-0, 6-0
6. Julia Casselbury (W&M) def. Maci Epstein (UVA) 6-2, 3-6, 12-10

I assume Julia will take over No. 1 which means Nauta last year's No. 2 would play at No. 5.

Cal makes some switches for Day 2. Fabikova enters at No. 6, which according to the team's fall form sounds about right. After her loss, Zsofi is moved down to No. 3.

CAL Anett Schutting vs. CP Jennifer Cornea
CAL Denise Starr vs. CP Emily Gibbens
CAL Zsofi Susanyi vs. CP Hannah Stone
CAL Lynn Chi vs. CP Mika Padmanaban
CAL Maegan Manasse vs. CP Zoe Oedekerk
CAL Klara Fabikova vs. CP Kathryn Webb
CAL Kelly Chui vs. CP Ane McPike
CAL Ceci Estlander vs. CP Sayaka Tsugai

I must say I am a bit surprised that Morgan is not #2 ahead of Cercone...also with Oyen far below at #5

Re: 2014 Dual Match Line-Up Discussion

Vandy drops Mira, who was playing #1 at Indoors, from #2 to #6. Not that it seems particularly scandalous considering how balanced they are from 1 to 7, but isn't that illegal?

6. Lana Groenvynck (UT) def. Ashleigh Antal (VU) 6-4, 6-0
