Zweitens: was heisst bessere Karriere?

Re: Annika Beck

2 hours rain delay so far, but I'm guessing they'll still manage to have it played tonight if there's no further rain. 2 Singles matches and a doubles match before hers, but I'm guessing if it's getting tight they'd push the doubles to Court 2 again.

Re: Annika Beck

The problem is it's meant to rain pretty much on and off until 8pm local time. I don't think Annika will get on today.

Re: Annika Beck

They really shouldn't have outdoor events when there such a massice chance of rain. Same problem as in Pattaya a few weeks ago. Given how slowly they are drying the court we really won't see Annika today.

Re: Annika Beck

Events like this really should have a court cover. I mean they're inexpensive. It takes them an hour to prepare the court after a rain delay. With court covers it would probably take 15 mins. That is a lot of time lost when rain showers are scheduled on and off like today.

You should tell this the guys that organize Flushing Meadows. That's even a Grand Slam but no covers everywhere you look.

Re: Annika Beck

Rain Covers on HC aren't faster at all, they explained this several times.

Re: Annika Beck

I don't get why they never cover hardcourts. Same in Brazil.

Re: Annika Beck

The problem is scheduling an event during the rainiest time of the year.

Increased rainfall occurs from January to March

Re: Annika Beck

Actually I have to say: if they need 20 minutes in Montréal for drying the courts then it's okay. But here in Brazil it took them almost an hour to get them dry. And that is definitely too much.

Re: Annika Beck

While that maybe true for big events like Montreal and US Open where they have big power Zamboni's, events like Florianopolis it's just plain stupid to not have them. There out there drying the courts with towels and squidees ffs, those aren't going to dry it very fast.

I'd also dispute some points they claim in that article anyway, like we have interview in UK with someone at USO who said how they clear the court in 20 minutes. If anyone could point me to a proper rain delay at USO where they prepared the court in 20 minutes I'd like to see it. It normally takes double that time. But that is completely moot point in the case of small events like Florianopolis. The first rain delay today it took them around 80 minutes to dry and prepare the court.

Anyway if there is no more rain we will probably get to see Annika today .

Yeah, Venus seems to be finishing this quickly. But the singles match after that is #280 against #634, god knows how they're going to play. I can already see them moonballing for 4 hours.
