Finally! 1st ITF title for Sonya
She won G4 in Daytona Beach, USA, beating 4 players ranked higher than her She jumped 155 places to #466
This week she's playing Plantation, also G4, whith tougher draw but has already easily beaten another much higher ranked player Seems she's finally stepping up!
Sonya reached the final last week at a G4 in the Bahamas, retiring down 4-1 to Simone Pratt and again this week is into the final of a G4 in Aruba this time (not bad places to play tournaments!) and has a very tough test against Johnnise Renaud tomorrow. She won the doubles last week and is into the doubles final again this week.
She defeated world no. 36 Bouzkova 6/2 7/6 and reached SF
Extremely impressive, especially her win 6/3 6/1 over world no. 26 Ploskina in 1st round
Based on her results it's worth noticing that her game should be pretty big now as she cam back from sth like 1/6 1/5 down against Bains at Eddie Herr and now in previous round against Cao from 2/6 2/4. This means that she's a fighter, when she's on, she can play really well but also is very inconsistent but that's sth she should improve with gaining experience.
That win already puts her inside Top 70 in juniors
I wonder if she'll go to Australia. It seems a little unlikely as she entered 1st of the ['cheap points to inflate your ranking' for the whole season] South American swing tournaments but maybe she didn't expect to do so well at Eddie Herr and Orange Bowl. She still can enter
