Elena Dementieva of Russia holds her trophy after beating her compatriot Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final tennis match of the WTA Dubai Tennis Championships in the Gulf emirate on March 1, 2008. Dementieva defeated Kuznetsova 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to win the WTA Dubai Open title.

Maria Sharapova won Tier II Amelia Island, her 19th title, at age 20. And her first clay title, this on green clay.

Well done to Maria on winning her third career singles title.  I never expected this title from Makiri after her game struggled so much since the Australian Open. Masha is probably the most inconsisent tennis player I've ever seen.  She makes Anna Kounrikova look like she was a consistent player.
