Roland Garros 2014

Her draw:

Flavia PENNETTA vs Patricia MAYR-ACHLEITNER
Maria KIRILENKO vs Johanna LARSSON
QQQ QQQ vs Julia GOERGES
Shahar PEER vs Eugenie BOUCHARD
Daniela HANTUCHOVA vs Jovana JAKSIC
Claire FEUERSTEIN vs Olga GOVORTSOVA
Petra CETKOVSKA vs Varvara LEPCHENKO
Katarzyna PITER vs Angelique KERBER

Sigh. Maria reached the QF last year, but there's no guarantee she'll win the first round this year. No expectations.

Re: Roland Garros 2014

Last year we would have drooled over a draw like that (especially if you consider that Kiri was seeded), nowadays she can maybe win R1 if her left wrist is actually ok.

Re: Roland Garros 2014

I think the draw is ok! Especially if you consider that Kiri isn't seeded this time...

She should/could win her R1 match. Larsson isn't having a great season so far
but, as almost always, it all depends on Kiri's health conditions

when will she play her first match? I guess there won't be a stream...?

She will play tomorrow, last scheduled match on Court 2, not sure if it is a televised one, probably yes though.
Yes, it is. Cool.

Ugh. Maria lost the 1st set 6-1. She just break to start off the 2nd set though.

Re: Roland Garros 2014

Maria is awful. She's now down 3-1 2nd set.

Her wrist seems to be bothering her a lot as she's slicing a bunch and overall hitting a worse backhand than Larsson.

What an injury can do to you . Should never ever lose a match against Larson, but she will.

Re: Roland Garros 2014

Sigh. Maria broken for 6-2 2nd set at Ad Larsson from 0-40 to 40-40. The match was 1 hour 9 minutes long.

Maria really shouldn't have played. Take some more time off and get healthy Maria.

Re: Roland Garros 2014

That's just sad

Maria can't even hit a BH... She's killed by injuries.

I saw her last year live on the same court, on her way to QF and top 10, and know she's just the shadow of herself
