Re: Big West - 2010 key matches
no, not weird..he got pressured by some parents of players that seemed to hate me for some reason (they claim that my 'sinister' presence make their daughters nervous ) and barred me from watching tennis at LN..I can't really blame him, but it was still a traumatic experience for me

#30 SMU upsets #23 TCU 7-0
Now with their 2 foreign additions, I predict SMU will be a top 20 team if not hosting a regional this season.

Re: Big West - 2010 key matches
Gouci, you should be pleased - Dallara played #1 against UCR today. And Form will be pleased that most of the girls spent enough time on court to get a good workout. LB did have a quick 15 minute practice after the match to get prepared for tomorrow.
The final decision was 7-0 in favor of the Beach, but #2, #3, and #5 all split sets, and even Dallara got a couple of hours of singles play in. Luzar played #6 and played well and was first off the court. She and Cantlay also came back from 4-7 to take the #3 doubles set in a tie-breaker.
I'm sure LB was caught looking past UCR, and may not have come prepared, but still it was nice to see all three of UCR's top players return to form, and UCR's #5 played a quality match as well. If UCR can tighten up their doubles play so they don't always start singles in the hole, I think they might threaten a few teams this year.
Singles
1. Anais Dallara (LBSU) def. Nadia Sakhakorn (UCR) 6-3, 6-3
2. Deborah Armstrong (LBSU) def. Donna McCullough (UCR) 6-0, 4-6, 6-3
3. Jaklin Alawi (LBSU) def. Taylor Raney (UCR) 6-1, 4-6, 6-2
4. Rachel Manasse (LBSU) def. Angelique Corpuz (UCR) 6-0, 6-1
5. Anna Jeczmionka (LBSU) def. Natalie McKay (UCR) 6-2, 2-6, (10-6)
6. Julie Luzar (LBSU) def. Roxanne Plata (UCR) 6-0, 6-0
Doubles
1. #60 Alawi/Manasse (LBSU) def. Plata/Corpuz (UCR)8-2
2. Armstrong/Dallara (LBSU) def. McCullough/Sakhakorn (UCR) 8-2
3. Cantlay/Luzar (LBSU) def. Raney/McKay (UCR) 8-7 (0)

 . .
Anais Dallara played her 1st match ever at #1 . .
Finally after going 24-1 playing behind Deborah Amstrong, Dallara finally moves above her. Dallara deserves to be #1 and an opportunity to play for a place on the All Big West 1st Team!
I'm sure Stephanie Hammel will give Dallara a proper welcome at #1.

I'm not surprised Schnoy beating Novak,
but Nedeltcheva, holly cow. Winning BOTH singles and doubles?

Re: Big West - 2010 key matches
Form my bad. I deleted "1 spot" to make it a true statement.

April Bisharat lost 9-7 in a 3rd set tie-breaker against then #98 Susie Matzenauer while Stefanie Hammel lost 0-6 in the 3rd to unranked Brittany Blalock. I think that justifies moving Bisharat to #1 against LBS if that's where Armstrong plays.

See Form you mispost the facts too.
Tranckino only played #1 for UC San Diego and didn't play #1 for UCI. Not when Jonni Seymour or Tiffany Chang occupied that spot the entire time Tranckino was at UCI.

Re: Updates
2/20/10
#46 LBS def. #51 UCI 4-3
- Went as expected according to the rankings. LBS also had the home court advantage.
- Hammel has been sporadic of late. She was down 1-6,2-5 to Blalock before turning it on to comeback and win the 2nd set 7-6. Then it turned off again to lose 0-6 in the 3rd. Against Dallara 1st set was on, 2nd set off, 3rd set comeback to go up 6-5 on, then it turned off in the tie-breaker.
