Re: Ani Mijacika cheering thread
Not just a bad scoreline, but a weird one too It's a shame, I was expecting a lot from this tournament.

Re: Ani Mijacika cheering thread
It's a disappointing result. The tournament has such a weak draw that I was expecting much more from Ani this week, perhaps unrealistically.
Regardless, she will reach a new career-high ranking and is still ahead (just slightly) of where Pandzic was during their respective comebacks. Also, she's scheduled to play again next week at the $25K in South Carolina. She's listed 7th in the qualifying entry list so she'll be seeded.

Re: Ani Mijacika cheering thread
If she gets her act together fast, she might make it to AO qualies, but it won't be easy. There are just two 25k's and two 50k's to be played until the end of the season in the US, Canada and Mexico. If she'd play them all, she'd need to reach QF on every one of them to get to ~250. Not impossible but...
Too bad she wasted some good chances for points recently.

Re: Ani Mijacika cheering thread
The qualifying draw for next week's $25K in South Carolina is out. Ani is seeded 3rd and has a bye in QR1. In QR2 she plays the winner of Aleah MARROW and Kir KEMP, both of whom are unranked. After that, it'll likely be the 15th seed, Maureen DIAZ (#755) for a spot in the MD. I expect that Ani will have no problem qualifying but best of luck to her anyway.

Re: Ani Mijacika cheering thread
Ani breezed through qualifying at the South Carolina tournament. In QR1 she got a bye; in QR2 she beat Kir Kemp 61 60; and in QRF she beat Maureen Diaz (#755; #15 seed) 61 62.
For the second week in a row, she got lucky in the MD placement. In R1 she plays another qualifier (ranked lower than her), Lena Litvak (#357). This is a good opportunity for Ani to pick up another 8 points and move up to a new career-high ranking in the 290s.
Good luck, Ani!

Re: Ani Mijacika cheering thread
Ani is playing doubles this week with Ajla Tomljanovic. Unfortunately in R1 they play the #2 seeds, Maria-Fernanda ALVES and Melanie KLAFFNER.
Good luck, Croats!
