I've been wanting to make a thread for her for some time, as she seems like a fine Dutch prospect and with her Belarusian origins I can only like her!
Liza is 16, she was born on Oct 14, 1998. She lives is Apeldoorn but comes from Minsk, Belarus.
Last year she reached a CHR of 216
, this week she's #219.
Last year, she's won a tournament: G4 ITF Leeuwenbergh Open
in NED on clay (she was the top seed and beat the 2nd seed Isolde de Jong in the final, 4 & 1). She also made 2 more finals, at G4 Salk Open in Sweden on hard (she was unseeded and lost to seed 5 Sofya Zhuk 2 & 2 in the final), and at G4 ITF Almere Autumn Indoor in NED on IH (she was the 3rd seed and lost 4 & 4 to seed 5 Anastasia Mikheeva in the final). She also made the SFs at G4 ITF Almere Autumn Indoor (it was a different tournament with the smae name apparently) - retired in the SFs against de Jong.
She also played the European Junior Championships in Moscow last summer in U16 category, but fell in R3 (she had a bye in R1, beat Cindy Castille in 3 sets in R1, and lost a very close match to seed 7 Eliza Omirou, 6-7(5) 7-6(3) 3-6.
She started this year at G2 Slovak Junior Indoor. She beat (Q)Martina Okalova 1 & 3 in R1 but fell to (8)Ekaterina Kazionova 6-7(6) 2-6 in R2.
From her results last year, she seems pretty inconsistent - some good deep runs and tough matches against tough players, but also quite a lot of disappointing R1 or R2 exits.
Hopefully she finds her mojo this year and can crack Top 100.
