I think Sorana will do good with Niculescu
Didn't they play together at the beginning of the season?

Yeah she did, in Sydney and Melbourne. They had a good run in Sydney, won their first match in Melbourne (Niculescu was very good), lost thier second (Niculescu was very bad).

They're a good team though, Sori is always laughing and Niculescu is more serious.

Sorana Cirstea fully recovered after the injury suffered in August at the Los Angeles tournamant.

In November she should have been on a beach in Mauritius ... At 7,900 km away from fog, rain and cold. Besides Caroline Wozniacki and Radwanska sisters. But last month she spent the time in the recovery room at Mogosoaia ... The reason? An injury at the plantar fascia in her right leg in August, at the tournament in Los Angeles.

After spliting her time between recovery exercises, cycling and swimming, Sorana can breathe easier, the medical examination revealed that all is well, the injury healed. Sorana has already started training. "I never stayed so long away from the court. Just waiting to go back. When you don't have something you realize that you are missing it!" said Sorana. Last Wednesday she to put her hand on the racquet again after a break of almost a month and a half. "I was happy to be back again on the court. I still play with fear! Every day I add five minutes of training and I hope it will be good," added Sorana. Today, Sorana went to Paris to join the adidas's staff and establish the strategy the next year.

Starting the season with Hopman Cup
Sorana will start next season with the Hopman Cup togheter with Victor Hanescu. The two of them will play the first match on 2 January , against Australia, which it is made of Lleyton Hewitt and Samantha Stosur. "Neither I nor Victor ever played mixed. It will be an interesting experience. I am very glad that I received an invitation," said Sorana. In 2010, in Perth beside Romania and Australia, there will be Russia, Britain, Spain, Germany, USA and Kazakhstan.

Aravane Rezai, Jelena Dokic & Sorana Cirstea Join Mouratoglou Tennis Academy

Continuing with the strong will of accompanying the big hopes of International Tennis to the highest level, the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy has strengthened its Elite Pros group with 3 new talents.

Former Coach of Marcos Baghdatis (ex ATP 8) and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (World Junior Champion and WTA 27- April 09), Patrick MOURATOGLOU will start the 2010 season working with Aravane REZAI, 22 years old and ranked 25th WTA. This recent collaboration has already shown great results as with the victory of Aravane in the Masters of Bali, a prestigious tournament that gathers some of the best WTA players. Aravane concluded this season by climbing to the 25th position, the best WTA ranking of her career, and ended up as the 3rd best French player.

After her remarkable performance in Melbourne at the beginning of the 2009 season, making her comeback into the highest level, Jelena DOKIC (ex world N°4 in 2002) ended-up brightly this season at the 56th WTA position. Jelena confirmed her great level by claiming 2 ITF 100,000 $ tournaments (Athens and Poitiers). The Australian and her coach, Croatian Borna BIKIC, will now join the Mouratoglou Elite Pros group, surrounded by a dedicated team.

Roland-Garros’ quarter finalist, Sorana CIRSTEA, the young 19-year-old Romanian player, ranked 45th WTA had known an impressive improvement in 2009. Sorana has decided to pursue her evolution on the WTA tour for the 2010 season with the Mouratoglou Academy and its specialists. The Slovakian Vladimir PLATENIK (former coach of Dominika Cibulkova) willl also become part of the Elite Pros and will coach Sorana.

Five Elite Pros players and 6 Rising Players of the Mouratoglou Academy will be competing at the 2010 Australian Open.
So Sorana's new coach will be the former coach of Cibulkova, Vladimir PLATENIK. Does anyone know what kind of coach is he?

Re: Sorana News And Articles

Vladimir Platenik is a great trainer. He started with Cibulkova when she was out of Top 300 and made it to 12 in the ranking with her.

Re: Sorana News And Articles

So has Sorana split with the Adidas team?
And why did Cibulkova split with this coach?

No she didn't, as long she's sponsored by adidas she will be part of adidas team. But adidas development team helps all the adidas players so Sorana needed a coach of her own...I remember when Sorana played against Wozniacki, at RG, Groeneveld or any other adidas team member, wasn't allowed to give advices before the match to any of the two players. Adidas team is complementary to the players team not the players team..

Quote:
The Adidas Player Program complements the players own team
The Adidas program was created with the spirit and vision of Adi Dassler in mind - helping tennis athletes reach their fullest potential via a collaborative effort and teamwork. In modern day sport, it is very unlikely that any one coach or mentor can provide all the expertise and insights that are required to become world class. The essence of the Adidas player program is that it strives to complement the player's own team with additional advice and motivation."

Re: Sorana News And Articles

I love her collaboration with Groeneveld.
I once read something on his blog that he wrote about the collaboration with Sorana, it looks like they have a special understanding.
that's why i think her new coach will have to work more on the mental side of her…
But it's important that Sorana will have a coach of her own
along with the Adidas team.

I hope this change will be good

Re: Sorana News And Articles

Sorana Cirstea confirmed her participation at the PTT Pattaya Open

Quote:
Meanwhile, two of rising stars of women's tennis, Sabine Lisicki of Germany and Sorana Cirstea of Romania, have confirmed their participation in the US$220,000 PTT Pattaya Open at the Dusit Thani Pattaya from February 714. Lisicki and Cirstea will join defending champion and world No 9 Vera Zvonareva in the main draw.

Sabine Lisicki, who turned 20 this year, is the German No 1 and finished the year with a world ranking of 22 after beating Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki on her way to her maiden tour title, at Charleston. A Wimbledon quarterfinal confirmed her place among the elite.

Teenager Sorana Cirstea climbed to No 45 in the world after beating both Jankovic and Wozniacki to reach the French Open quarterfinals.
So she her schedule will be

January 3-9 : Hopman Cup (Perth, Australia)
January 10-16: Moorrilla Hobart International (Hobart, Australia)
January 18-30: Australian Open (Melbourne, Australia)
February 8-14: PTT Pattaya Women's Open (Pattaya City, Thailand)

and probably after Pattaya she will go to Dubai...

I really think it'll be a good chance for her to win a title
Go Sori!!

Will she play Fed Cup? And I'm assuming after Dubai she'll play Kuala Lumpur, no?
