Smile Ekaterina Yashina

I think Katya deserves a thread.

She was born on August 6, 1993 so she's still 19. She's from Saratov, she started tennis at 6, her favourite surface is hard, and she's coached by her parents Elena & Yuriy.

She's currently #478 at the WTA, with a CHR of 376 (reached in March of 2012).

She's won 3 tournaments so far, all 10Ks - 2 in 2011 (Astana and Karshi) and 1 this year (Shymkent).

Re: Ekaterina Yashina

After 10K Shymkent that she won at the beginning of March, she played 2 Sharm-El-Sheikh 10Ks a month later, where she reached R2 and QF successively.

This week, she's playing 25K Namangan. She was Seed 5 in qualies and qualified (double bagelled Melisa Bekirova in Q1 and beat (WC)Yana Khon 2 & 2 in Q2).

Now R1 vs. (WC)Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva

Noooooo.

Amazing locks. Best with conditioner in it like here!

She had an amazing run last year. Question is whether she has a level above the 10ks.

You can call me TF (named before they changed the name here to the current stupid Tennis Forum). What should I call you? (Your current name is part of the band, right?)

No more Watches-- too much time to do and not enough interest from others. They had a good run!

Yeah, I'm quite nostalgic of WTAWorld I wasn't registered then but I used to read it quite often. I feel like it was more about actual tennis and following players at that time, now lots of players forums are just dead.

My username is related to the band yeah But my real name is Géraldine You can call me the way you like

Oh, I really enjoyed your Watch lists (maybe I should have told you ), but I understand it must take much time to keep them updated week in week out. Btw, I'm really finding a hard time to follow all the tennis results/tournaments as I would like to. I feel quite overwhelmed, it takes so much time, browsing all the draws, reading all the scorelines, there are so many players I want to follow closely but between the pros and the juniors I feel like I spend my life checking tennis results and I feel a bit tired and pathetic. Sometimes I tell myself I should stop all of this, but it would make me sad, too.

Thanks, I also enjoy that you are keeping up with different players, just don't burn yourself out!

I usually don't post unless the player has reached a SF; same as when I was writing the Watches. Too many talented players to keep track of!

For the Russian forum, it's a bit strange to me that more Russians don't post here, like you have different groups with the other forums.

You're right, I think I'm donna do like this myself from now on too Do you read every draw scrupulously, with Q rounds and early rounds and all? I find it so tiring or do you just take a quick look at who qualified and who reached the later stages and that's it? But I have concentration problems too, and I guess I'm way too obsessional with being aware of everything, that may account for lotsa things.

Yeah, true that there are very few Russians posting in the Russian subforum. Mayve it's because most don't feel comfortable enough with their English? Or maybe it's the fact that they have their own Russian WTA forum (wtatour.ru) and that they don't feel the need to come here

First, in the weeks before an ITF tournament, I'll look at who's on the entry list. If no one I follow is there, I ignore that tournament completely.

For the other tournaments, I do look at both qualifying and the main draw, but won't post about qualifying for 10Ks, because there's too many 10ks. The only exceptions are if there's a special player I'm following, or someone who's come back from a long lay-off and their ranking has dropped.

For 25Ks and above, I will post about those I follow who've qualified, and follow them through the main tournament.

Sometimes it's nice when all the players I follow from a tournament lose early, then I just stop following the tournament!

For the WTA tournaments, I'll post about all the players I follow, whether they are in qualies or in the main draw.

If I'm not busy and in a good mood, this all can be exciting. If I'm busy or in a bad mood, this can all be a big chore, even with the shortcuts.

It's great though, when you get to know about a player before they break into the big leagues-- like Petra Kvitova, Mona Barthel, Annika Beck, the Pliskovas.

But for those players, there are also many disappointments, that I question sometimes following all these players.

Next week, there are 16 ITF tournaments, and the week after, 14! Maybe I'll quit altogether in May

Yeah, you're right, there is the Russian-language forum! That probably explains it.

Still there are members like MKhromechev, Yuri Bot and ILoveCats who are regulars in the Challenger thread, but don't post here.
