Alexandra is a former Top 10 junior who's been left in the dust as her contemporaries, Victoria, Caroline, Aga and Agnes have made their names on the WTA tour.
Now, Alexandra seems to want to make her own noise. She just lost out on winning her 2nd (and by far biggest) title at the 75K hardcourt in Monzon. She is now within the Top 250 and warrants her own cheering thread!
When she came back to level things at 4 games all after being down 0-4, I really got my hopes up, but it's better she doesn't force things here. Would be nice if she plays in New Haven, but US Open should be a priority.
Alex should be able to get past Kristyna (if her body is ok by that time), but I don't think she can harm Sharapova at this point. I expect two very short sets if she makes it in the second round.
I really can't predict this one. Kris could show up and blow Alex off the court....but I think it's more likely that Alex will wear her down and win it.
She is in New Haven? I am wondering if I can go see her. She's probably going to leave for New York sometime this weekend though. I think she made a nice choice of training here, much quieter, and the courts are the same.
